Toronto Blue Jays set a franchise record in runs scored in a game after beating Boston Red Sox 28-5!

Well, it helps when a routine popout turns into an inside-the-park Grand Slam :p

As a Blue Jays fans, this has been an incredible night. :d Even sweeter that it was against one of our biggest rivals.

Unfortunately the Jays couldn't break the record for runs scored in the modern era (30 by the Texas rangers) especially since they already scored 25 runs by the 5th inning.

The Jays also lead 27-3 and couldn't score one more run to make it 28-3. The memes would've been incredible (for those who follow American Football)

The biggest trade of the season has happened. Juan Soto is going to San Diego Padres who have loaded up to finally make the WS push.

Washington Nationals who won World Series in 2019 have all their All-Star talent gone in basically three years, Bryce Harper (he left before WS), Trea Turner, Max Scherzer, Anthony Rendon and now Soto.

The Padres trade still hinges on Padres 1B Eric Hosmer waving no-trade clause to Nationals.

Soto and Bell to San Diego, Abrams, Gore and 3 of the top prospects from the SD organization go to Washington...

Yankees getting rid of Gallo is a bonus for them. He was below average for a while.

Yeah, Hosmer spun out of the Soto deal but didn't block it. Nationals are bottom five team in the league and have zero genuine hope for the next decade.

Also Noah Syndergaard went to Phillies. This guy was a luxury piece on a nose-diving Angels team and he wasn't worth the squeeze after TJ surgery anyway.

Twins got SP Tyler Mahle which means Cardinals were the deadline losers by the virtue of not making any deals as they were reported to be in the Soto sweepstakes and Mahle was supposed to be a consolation price but they got neither.

actually they got Jordan Montgomery from the Yankees (in exchange for Harrison Bader) and Josè Quintana from the Pirates to solidify their rotation (they also got Chris Stratton to add some arms in the bullpen)...

I would wait a bit before calling them the TD losers...;)

San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. had missed the whole season thus far because of an injury he got during a motorcycle intersection. He was close to recovering.

Today he got an 80 game suspension after testing positive for PEDS.

This guy is unbelievable.

Fuck 10 year hockey contacts, Julio Rodriguez might sign a 13-, 16- or 18-year contract with Mariners   Well, Mariners famously didn't have money to sign Alex Rodriguez or Randy Johnson long-term 20+ years ago so they maybe learned a lesson or two since then.

    • it's not difficult when you have such a strict policy to enter or leave the country. Or when you have a dictator that can mask number as he wish, if he can convince their people that a highly censored and restrictive land can host a competition like the Olympic Games, i'm sure he can convince no covid case was detected.   One fun fact is that their guards and border control officers were very serious and strict with people from other nationalities when entering the country, but with us it was very different, they would look at our passport with serious face, look at the country, look at us, start smiling and say "Portugal?? Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!"   This behaviour happened in every single checkpoint in every single Central Asia land. It's like a vip pass in this area of the world
    • I still remember watching the World Junior Championships in Moncton when ES was hyping her unbeaten streak of 100+ races or whatever the number was and she promptly came 2nd in 200m
    • After four weekends of winter sports, we are slowly entering the middle of the winter season . And, as usual, it's time for statistics that I don't know which theared to put in      After 29 events, 20 different NOCs was already on the podium. After several seasons, Uzbekistan is also back on the podium thanks to figure skating (and two former Russians).   This weekend will be all about ice sports, with a total of 13 events: 4 in figure skating (first stage in Europe) and 9 in short track (second stage in Montreal, since SLC was cancelled)

    • Out of curiosity, I listened to a few podcasts about Turkmenistan today. This country has very large deposits of natural gas. In the 1990s, a simple a ordinary people lived quite well there. In the early 21st century, Turkmenistan signed several unfavorable gas deals with China and has practically gone bankrupt since then. 1/3 of the population (about 2 million out of 6 million- mostly young people) emigrated, mainly to Turkey, India, etc. The future of this country is blacka and uncertain. I don't know what other options they have? Russia, Turkey, the EU? Of course, in terms of selling gas. Perhaps sanctions of Russia's and isolation due to the war in Ukraine would be a chance for Turkmenistan to establish economic relations with the EU, but the new president would probably have to loosen and a little liberate up his country's domestic politics.
    • A friend of mine who visited 97 countries of the world be in Turkmenistan (with Kunshamara, are the onlyones i know) and he tell me something that never see in another country: his presence was enough to make nervous to all the people, in restaurants, markets, etc, the presence of an "outsider" generate that.
