I would like to ask, is the host in the short track speed skating world championships directly in the relay competition? I am not quite sure about this rule.

I found such a passage, but some did not understand too much.

:CAN Sam Girard, only 22, has retired. Best known for winning gold in Pyeongchang, something I had the privilege of witnessing live in the arena that day. Very sad news for Canadian speed skating :cry:

  I was surprised as well. I guess they're trying to make up for the single men's quota for concacaf? They couldn't give them more without substracting from one of the other confeds, which would probably make the tournament (even) less attractive.

  How did CONCACAF get 3 women's quotas, especially since the united states are qualified as hosts. Asia should get 3 full quotas. Europe should also get 5.

  I doubt that Germany will use all its eight Women's places. Now that Carl won't be able to compete, I only see six "safe" athletes (Rydzek, Gimmler, Hoffmann, Hennig, Sauerbrey, Fink) and maybe Krehl.

  China and Poland are missing one men's single, and Slovakia is missing one women's team, who isn't competing at all this season. I was hoping Poland and China would get a wild card to compete on the team relay at the Olympics.
