Ledecky had to fight to not finish outside the podium
Titmus!
Nice finish from Winnington, but Märtens was too good
Impressive semi from Walsh, no one came close
Pan swimming 46.80 as the start swimmer in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay, a new World Record
O wow, didn't see this gold medal coming
Impressive race by Kim! Love it when someone goes all out like this, no fear
And there's the Hungarian medal, and it's gold!
ExpandFinally the WC break for Sharon van Rouwendaal. As per usual,
salvaging what little is left in the marathon tournament. Happy to see her on top form on the Olympic distance again.
She was a bit helped by Cunha and Beck battling it out together, but that's what can happen in a three-way race to the finish.
Yeah, the finish was very exciting. The first 3 women finished within 1 second from each other after 10k.
My meeting at work was about to start at 10:00 and meetings with Dutch and German colleagues always start right on time., but I saw how tight the race was and the finish was at 10:03 or something like that, so I made ten people in the meeting wait for me with some stupid excuse, just so I could watch the finish.
What a Championships for
Milak
ExpandAwkward no interview with the world champion. Obviously doesn't speak English

And then the interviewer was like:
ExpandDamn, Julie Kepp is consistent on that 50m backstroke!
I was scrolling through the results just now and came here to see if anyone else had noticed.
28,01 in the semi-finals, then 28,01 in the swim-off and then 28,01 in the final. That’s impressively consistent.
Mixed 5km Team Relay:
1. Netherlands (Vermeulen/Van Rouwendaal/Smits/Weertman) 52:35.0
2. Germany (Beck/Koehler/Meissner/Wellbrock) 52:35.6
3. France (Grangeon/Aubry/Pou/Olivier) 52:46.7
This looks like another gold!?!
No medals in the pool for us, but a gold in marathon swimming makes up for a lot!
What a great performance from Sharon!
A Greek gold medal!
Easy win for the Dutch girls, showing they're ready to compete against the top favorites in Rio.
