ExpandTried to open a new topic for the Women's World Cup like the one for Men's but i guess the common thread will have to do it for the girls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, some interesting matches on this first four days i would say, especially the defeat of India agains New Zealand.
The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
ExpandEngland qualified to Super8, that means that Scotland will be relegated to European qualification in 2026. If England would not qualify, both team could have automatic qualification for 2026.
Actually, Ireland, Scotland will be at the regional qualification, plus the today winner of Italy v Romania
Romania beating Italy would be a bigger shock than any we've seen at the World Cup
ExpandAgree to an extent, though what's noticable is Canada's particular relative weakness at those sports, preferring baseball, Canadian gridiron football, ice hockey and (for netball, the other commonwealthy team sport), Basketball.
As for patterns of immigration, they are probably similar enough. The big difference, really, is Soccer and the number of futbol crazy hispanic Americans, though the sport has clearly reached a tipping point in the US
Specific to cricket, the USA was undoubtedly the worst run cricket federation in the world up until a few years ago. Now they're almost competent

Glenn Maxwell, who got injured early in the game, scored 201.
Probably one of the best performances in any sport of this year.
I still can't believe the story of cricket in Aghanistan.
I think I mentioned before that the sport literally did not exist in the country until the Soviet invasion in 1979.
The love for cricket was learned in refugee camps in Pakistan in the 1980s and 90s.
The national team has only existed since 2001.

I am very proud. This is a fantastic moment for Dutch cricket.
It is the Netherlands' best achievement, by far.

A fantastic day for Dutch cricket, the planning and the execution. We thought they were initially getting blown away and yet here they are shaking hands with the South Africa team with a win under their belts. It’s hard to believe but here it is.
They’re going to have to delve into it and tear it apart and work out how it actually happened. We’re going to be glowing in our pace for the Dutch team and also for individual performances. Van de Merwe changed it for this team and Scott Edwards jumped on that and put the South Africa team to the sword. It was Ackermann who then got the breakthrough and the game changed again.
