ExpandAZ Alkmaar beat Legia Warsaw 1-0 but two Legia players (Josue & Pankov) were arrested after the game since they allegedly caused bodily harm to one of the stadium stewards
In return Legia owner claims he was hit by the Dutch police when he tried to intervene and find out what's going on.
I live in Alkmaar, was born and raised here, and have never seen this much police in and around the city as I saw yesterday. They were really worried about the fans of Legia.
It's the story of Legia against the story of the Dutch police now. Police here claims that fans of Legia were aggressive, managed to steal pepperspray and batons from the police, and Legia fans without tickets stormed the stadium and managed to get in. The two players that got arrested allegedly abused personnel of AZ Alkmaar.
Polish politicians are now also complaining, contacted the Dutch Prime Minister and even proposed to get the European Parliament involved in this case. Dutch media suggest that it's because of the upcoming elections in Poland as their party, PiS, is known for being critical towards Western Europe in general. Not sure if there's any truth to that.
and
are preparing a joint bid for the 2030 World Championships with…
At least according to some serious rumors.
qualified by scoring the 1-0 in the 93rd minute against
in a must win match!
They had more than 25 shots on goal and only converted 1 though
Four very strong teams in the semi final. Unsure who will win this one.
Going in to extra time now. France is still the stronger team by far, but they’ve missed so many chances.
The fact that France hasn’t scored yet is somewhat of a miracle. They’re outplaying the Dutch, but haven’t converted any of their chances yet.
COVID within the Dutch team. Jackie Groenen tested positive. She was by far the strongest player on the Dutch side yesterday.
Van Veenendaal is the MVP here. Glad we survived the first half.
had to play the UEFA play-offs to qualify for this World Cup, and now they're in the final.
The Dutch women been undefeated in big tournaments since the 1/8th final loss against Japan in 2015, as they won 6 matches in a row at Euro 2017 winning their first major title, after debuting in 2009 (semi-finals) and playing in 2013 (finishing last in their group), and now another 6 wins in a row at this World Cup in only their 2nd appearance ever. And now they will also debut at the Olympic Games.
They've grown so much in such a short period of time.
Better team lost today. Japan deserved more.
Undeserved penalty in my opinion.
was/is the better team as well.
This was such a crazy night. I watched the match in a night club with 2000 other people. My clothes are soaked in beer, the vibe was amazing. I will remember this night for the rest of my life.
Although I don't take it that seriously, I actually enjoy the Nations League. Instead of poor match-ups for the international friendlies, we now see teams of a similar level play against each other.
