of course it's my target and it's the best case scenario
however, Nacra 17 is almost a lock for gold (the only crew that might have a chance to beat our best crews are Gimson & Burnet, but only in light wind conditions)
then, given the results of the last big events, both iQFoiL and men's Kite are definitely gold medal contenders and coming home with no metal at all would be an absolute failure
those 4 medals should be the bare minimum
then, I expect mixed 470, women's ilca6 and maybe even women's 49er fx to be at least "competitive" (given that a medal in those classes would be quite surprising, but not impossible)
Wait is it your target or the Italian federation’s ? Not that it matters, but that total would be close to best case scenario.
There’s only 10 events in the Olympic programme, and while Italy have a lot of medal contenders, Italy doesn’t have a lot of dominant athletes in sailing that are “locks” for the podium (like China in table tennis, going 1-2 in each gender and winning gold in the team events), it would be an amazing outcome and far from impossible but surprising and would require a lot of things to go right.
the Egyptian is in a class of his own in this category
he's expected to dominate the field
our guys have done what they were expected to do, if someone beats Tolba, it would be a huge upset
