Refugee Athlete Tesfay Felfele is in the entry list for the Valencia Marathon happening December 3.
With a PB of 2:13 set four years ago, he hasnt compete in a marathon since. With a HM personal best of 1:03 set in 2021, he's on the road for a new marathon Personal Best. And who knows, maybe an Olympic ticket?
ExpandNice find. With Australia and New Zealand qualifying naturally, all she needs to do is have a World (not Olympic) ranking of 180 or higher by the deadline.
https://triathlon.org/athletes/results/165494/manami_iijima World Triathlon Rankings: 178
Rudy Fernández (Basketball) and Carolina Marin (Badminton) are my choices for
Our National Comitee has a rule that states that flagbearers had to have Olympic medals from years prior, so both or them are good choices.
Maialen Chourraut (Slalom canoe) would be ideal but she competes next morning so imposible.
And I don't think Marcus Walz would be in Paris for the opening ceremony considering he doesn't compete until the last days.
Do we have the list?
Karate is so boring. It's, by far, the most borig combat sport of all in the programme. And Katas are... well, something else. It's a slower and worst explained version of Taekwondo.
If they want a combat sport that has both fighting and "performing" I wish they choose Wushu, a more entretaining one.
But honestly I dont think the games need another martial art. Maybe in 2028 when inevitably Boxing gets axed.......
ExpandYou may want to see it, but how much time do spend training rhythmic gymnastics?
Why would boys train for a sport where the world doesn't allow them to compete on.
Spain is one of the few countries, not to say the only one, with a stablished men's rhythmic national championships and national league, in individual and teams, and there are thousand of kids taking the sport.
A sport that totally neglets based on gender should not have a place in the Olympics. They have had years and years and years to do something about it, and no one moved. So, why not face the ax?
ExpandNo one wants men's rhythmic gymnastics, or synchronized swimming for that part... They are perfectly fine being women only events. And there should be no problem with that. Just like there shouldn't be any problem with wrestling and boxing having more men's events. But these conversations get more and more absurd with every passing Olympics...
Well, I'm No one, nice to meet you.
Because men can't do Rhytmic Gymnastic cause "equality" only works one way....?
ok...
ExpandI think you are right, in the beginning they had this offshore racing, but it was taken out and therefore there will be two kiteboarding events
But is this official already?
Last thing I heard was that the IOC didn't cancel the offshore event completely, they send it to have an overhaul and they would revisit in a future. They asked the Sialing Federation to choose a preferred substitute in case the offshore event was cancelled, and that's where they choose the individual kiteboarding instead of the team event.
But if I'm not mistaken it's not official event cause the IOC can still choose the offshore event (wich is also the Sailing Federation favorite of the two)
Spanish press talking about 35 km race walk with a 2 men / 2 women team, adding times to determinate the winner
Idk in other countrys, but events like Volvo Ocean Race and things like that are far more popular in Spain that any other sailing event.
The Offshore event would have drawn some attention, at least here.
Also, they really dropped the ball wlth no mixed Artistic Swimming.....
So...... no team Golf, with one of the most exciting ideas. Sad.
Mens road race needed a reduction and the womans an increse, good for that.
Overall not bad, but nothing exciting.
So they only rhing they accepted was Extreme Canoe, literally the WORST option of the bunch
The racewalking thing hurts
Squash is meh. Bring back Basque Pelota and do a Trinquete competition instead. That would be fun,
ExpandI thought World Athletics were replacing the 20k and 50k walk with one 30k distance anyway?
A 10k event (that could be held in the stadium or in road) and a 30k road one. But it only would happend if the tecnology for a better judging could be tested and it was confirmed efective. If not, they would do 20k and 35k.
So, basically, we don't know nothing.
A golf team event with a Match Play format would be amazing. It doesn't need new quotas and offers something completely different. I hope they asked that cause I can see it happening
To be honest, some changes aren't even bad. It's just others are REALLY BAD, so it overshadows other decent changes.
Another Race Walk event for women is needed. High Diving is fine, I wouldt mind it taking Artistic Swimmings spot tbh.
Ligthweigth rowing adds nothing to the games. Coastal rowing is a developed and entreteining sport completely different to anything already on. I support that change. Same thing with Sailing. I get people not liking "mixed events", but it kind of makes sense in Sailing, and it opens the door for other exciting boats.
Same thing for Mixed Skeet or mixed time trial, I can live with it being in the games.
Aything else, garbage.
What could have Fencing asked for? Mixed weapon mixed team (lmao) event?
Any other sport missing?
BMX flatland is what they should have added instead of Breakdancing.
By IOC rules, FINA had to focus more on fixing the umbalance issue at Artistic Swimming before trying to add something new. Same for FIG and Rythmic Gimnastics.
Why try to add aerobics or parkour when men can't still compete at one of their sports? At least FINA is, slowly, working on that and male artistic performers can compete at World or European championships.
I'm still waiting FIG does SOMETHING. We all know what would happend if an International Federation would directly refuse to let the one gender take part in an sport in any way........
