The kind of crap Mexican people was/still is tortured when watching "public" television... although as a child, I really enjoyed that silly dance (still too innocent to actually notice the coke mishap)

It was kind of a variety show, with some guest singer/band and some type of contest for the audience at the set. Apart from that, the main presenter (the fact one) cracked some jokes, many at the expense of the other guy, who was a popular comedian. The show was broadcastes at 2:30 PM which is the traditional lunch time in Mexico, so you can imagine the concern of the producers and the TV executives when that aired. They guy wasn't fired, but some years later the show was canceled and they both went to work for the competition. It ended badly for them however; the presenter, name's is Francisco "Paco" Stanley was grizzly executed by drug cartel enforcers while having breakfast at a restaurant; rumor says that he was the link between drug dealers and their clients in the network; after some investigations, the Attorney's office decided to process the other guy along with some other members of the show staff, for alleged complicity in the murder; they were later released after spending around 4-5 years in jail... needless to say, the careers of every one of them never recovered.

  7. Not really Olympic style sailing, but in a few hours one of the most legendary events starts in Bermuda with the qualification for the 35th America's Cup beginning. We have 2 weeks of qualifiers in front of us with one team emerging as the final challenger to take up the fight against the defending champions, Oracle Team USA. Five teams will take on the challenge going head to head with each team twice (the defenders take part in this as well) before the bottom team is eliminated. Then it's semi finals and a final, all done as best of 5. The teams are: Defenders: Oracle Team USA (Skipper: James Spithill) Challengers: Artemis Racing (Skipper: Nathan Outteridge) Emirates Team New Zealand (Skipper: Peter Burling) Land Rover BAR (Skipper: Ben Ainslie) Groupama team France (Skipper: Franck Cammas) Softbank team Japan (Skipper: Dean Barker) Land Rover BAR comes into the qualification with a slight advantage as they got 2 points as winners of the America's Cup World series. As 2nd Oracle got one point, but that doesn't really matter as they're already in the final. It's hard to say who looks the strongest. Artemis has been strongest in the practice races and should be mentioned as one of the favourites. Emirates are always to be counted on with their innovative designs and several skilled sailors. Land Rover BAR hasn't seemed too strong during the practice races, but with Ainslie in the lead, they should never be forgotten (I still remember Oracle's comeback from 1-8 4 years ago). Groupama has one of the best skippers as well, but will be a slightly smaller outsider after a bad last week of practice racing with no wins. Softbank had a good start to the campaign but seemed to have lost a bit of ground until the last week of practise racing, where they had a 100 % win rate. Meanwhile the defenders have been going up and down with the arrow pointing upwards after a good last week. It's a damn tough race to call, but if I had to do it, I would guess that Groupama lose out after the group stage. Then we'll have Artemis and Emirates in the final which Emirates will win. The cup itself will go to New Zealand as well.

  13. That's a very nice story and very sad that Don Charly has now passed away. But he left a great legacy by introducing one super fan to the sport who in turn helps to educate the rest of us sports enthusiasts on here

  14. A bit of unimportant news. Yesterday I've read the news that Minna Telde's horse Don Charly has passed away at age of 20. They didn't have that successful career, only championships appearance came at the 2009 Europeans (where they placed 12th). However, long before I became dressage enthusiast, I remember watching some videos from 2009 Europeans on youtube. And it was Minna Telde & Don Charly's performance to U2 music that caught my eye. Even though I hardly had an idea what's going on. And the rest is history I'm afraid. Now, 6-7 years later I can very much enjoy this performance from the technical aspect too. So I guess it's thank you, Don Charly.

  15. At least here in the Netherlands a lot of them also don't treat the country they live in well, at all. Disproportionally high crime numbers, an incredibly low amount of literate people because 'fuck education', resulting in money being 'made' in a ton of different criminal ways, from bigger things like drugs dealing to relatively smaller things like selling newspapers while pretending to be homeless people (and so stealing this quite common form of actual homeless people making some money). With around 25-30% of Roma younger than 18 already having had contact with the police, against 2% against the entire rest of the country, that's not exactly something that shows they're integrating well or even give a damn about being treated completely the same (and there's no way that's mostly because of how they're treated).
