2020 Championships Results

 

Women's Ice Hockey IIHF Under 18 Division I Group B World Championship 2020

 

Women's Ice Hockey IIHF Under 18 Division II Group A World Championship 2020

 

Women's Ice Hockey IIHF Under 18 Division II Group B World Championship 2020

 

Tournament Format

 

9 Participating teams are divided into three, 3-team groups A, B & C in the Preliminary Round.

The Winner of each Group will advance to the Main Round - Group D. The 2nd ranked nations from the Preliminary Round will qualify to the Main Round - Group E, while the last ranked nations from Preliminary Round Groups will progress into the Main Round - Group F.

The Top two teams from Main Round - Group D will then play the Gold Medal Game,

The 3rd ranked nation from Group D and Winner of the Group E will face in the Bronze Medal Game.

The 2nd and 3rd ranked nations from Group E will play the 5th Place match and the winner of the Group F will face the 2nd ranked Nation from its Main Round group in the 7th Place Match. The 3rd ranked Nation in Group F will end the Tournament in a final 9th Place.

The Gold Medal Match winner will advance to the next year Women´s Under 18 Division I Group B World Championship 2023, while all remaining nations will stay in this division also for the next year 2023.

    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.  
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory  
    • This is the home town of our very own @heywooduand @brunamoura    
    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?

    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
