  1. anthem ahead of the men’s beach volleyball bronze medal match was incredible.
  2. Definitely the best final of the week. too dominant, but with a slightly surprising silver medal. I feel so bad for Bustos
  3. Men's team event is tight for the medals. This could be a great battle in the laser run.
  4. Should Lionel Martínez get selected for Paris 2024, it will be the second longest time between participation at different editions of the Olympics according to our friends over at Olympedia. Hiroshi Hoketsu holds the current record at 44 years @dcro
  5. I really want to set a hard deadline of Saturday at midnight (California time). However, if you can get them in before the draw on Sunday at noon (California time), I will accept them. I can be more forgiving for users from countries with multiple jury members, but since you’re Germany’s only representative, I need you to cast your votes.
  6. Martínez throws away the gold medal with three misses in the final round. However, he does qualify for the Olympic Games. Assuming he’s chosen by Venezuela, it will be only his second appearance at the Olympics after *check notes* Los Angeles 1984 He won his only other medal at the Pan American Games 40 years ago in Caracas.
  7. Men’s Trap Quotas:
  8. Bummed about not making the baseball final. They had a good tournament until the Super Round. It wasn’t so super to them
  9. This is similar to how we celebrated those two days at my religious private schools in California. My primary school would have a mass on All Saints, with each grade level creating a banner for a particular Saint. There would then be a procession behind them at the start of mass. My secondary school (high school) celebrated Día de Los Muertos instead, with a prayer service where students could submit names to be read out and remembered. In years where there was a student/teacher/staff death, it would get very emotional. Edit: As someone not particularly religious, I did find the various celebrations fascinating.
  10. Saw a post in another community, but now I’m curious… What do you guys call the action (normally done by kids/teenagers) where someone knocks on a door and runs away before the person can answer it. In the US, at least in California, this would be called a “ding-dong ditch.”
  11. It looks like all surfing finals will be held on October 30th. Nothing over the weekend due to the weather.
  12. Quintero allowed to wear a white jersey with rainbow stripes for the keirin. Don’t know if I’ve seen that at a multi-sports games before.
  13. I was thinking the same. I don’t what to expect when it comes to the standard of players though. They could always spring a surprise in something like the road race too.
  14. This schedule is very front-loaded and back-loaded. Pan American Games seem to be struggling to achieve a balanced schedule lately.
  15. A couple replays are on PanamSports Channel. I'll watch a few things from other broadcasters in South America.
  16. Maria Moya was a contender internationally for a while, but I don't think they're favored in any event at the moment.
  17. Official Announcement The voting order draw will be held on Sunday, October 29th at 12:00 PDT. The schedule on the first post has been amended to show this change. I will introduce the venue for the draw and then hand control of the process over to our draw host @mrv86. We will require volunteers to assist with the process, so please indictae your availability if you'd like to participate in this unique tradition.
  18. Credit to Aguirre for doing everything possible to find victory. No medal for her either, but she’d definitely get the combativity award if this was the TDF.
  19. No medal for Joseph Got herself eliminated too early in the elimination race. Her tactics in the points race weren’t particularly great either.
  20. with a medal in women’s volleyball for the first time since 1975
  21. Paul just too good for anyone on the continent. Commanding victories all around. Silver for
  22. able to hold off the dominate Mexicans. In fact, it will be a bronze for them
  23. It is an issue with their NOC elections and governance. I feel like it could be cleared up before Paris, but this suspension has been applied for a few months now
  24. Decent chance that only two teams finish on the lead lap in the women’s relay. Bronze medal could possibly go to a team lapped by the winners. starts third 1:21 off the leading Mexicans.
  25. Only four pairings avoid elimination in the women’s relay. in prime position for a 4th place finish
