  1. I guess we know the tennis players weren't included in that number Hopefully situations like this are rectified in favor of the athletes. It isn't their fault.
  2. There's a bit of a grace period built in to the schedule because of the Pan American Games, so extra time can be granted. However, I would appreciate if people get their votes in the original deadline.
  3. I don't see any reporting supporting that from the major Olympic outlets...
  4. My votes have been cast with five minutes to spare. The voting window can now be considered open for all other juries.
  5. I’ve got 1 1/2 hours to finalize votes, and 24 songs left in contention
  6. LA also stepped up to host an Olympics no one else really wanted at the time. There’s definitely an attitude that we get to dictate the terms for hosting the Olympics.
  7. No, sport climbing was included on the provisional sports program by the IOC. Sports Climbing, Skateboarding, and Surfing are basically all main program sports now.
  8. Yeah, it’s interesting to see all the Europeans complaining about diversity when the program was shaped by their interests and strengths for basically a century.
  9. My idea for the team event... Mixed National Pairs: There would be 18 pairs of two nations. The format would be similair to Mixed Team Skeet/Trap. If a national jury awards points to your nation or your partner, you get a "hit." A perfect score would be 36, with eliminations beginning after the 19th jury votes. The pair with the lowest number of hits would be eliminated from the competition. In case of a tie, the team with the least number of "double hits" (where a jury gives points to both nations) is eliminated. If still tied, the team with the lowest total points is eliminated. This format could also be done in teams of three if preferred.
  10. They organize events sporadically, and their website as a mess. Ultimate could definitely contest for a spot on the program, but the WFDF needs to get more serious.
  11. will send 631 athletes to Santiago. Link: https://www.usopc.org/news/2023/october/09/usopc-announces-2023-u-s-pan-american-team 42/50 states being represented is a neat stat.
  12. I don't think the federation is well regarded. Ultimate would have been a popular choice in my opinion. There's a professional league, and all the local universities have teams. It isn't hard to find local "pickup" games either. Venue requirements would be easy, since any football/soccer stadium could host. The sport has a lot going for it, but I do think an opportunity has been squandered here.
  13. Official Announcement The entries window is now officially closed for the 2023 Totallympics Open International Song Contest. This edition will feature 36 nations, with input 46 jury members. I wish all participating users the best. To accommodate the entry of Israel, the voting dates have been moved slightly. The host vote window has been pushed a day later to Tuesday, October 10. The voting window for all other juries will now open on Wednesday, October 11. Please check the schedule on the first post for exact timings.
  14. I will say, it is interesting how this was announced. There were conflicting media reports, the IOC Program Commission delayed their decision, then LA28 drops the press release this morning, and now the IOC still maintains the Olympic Program Commission has to sign off on the proposal, as well as, the IOC session.
  15. Honestly, most people see that on a similar level to flag football probably. Flag has the benefit of being more accessible for non-traditional countries in the sport, but it is very simplified from tackle football.
  16. If they aren’t going to allow demonstration sports anymore, this might be the best compromise. I do think it is important to have some local flavor/interest reflected in the sports program. The Olympics are about cultural exchange in many ways. Of course, it shouldn’t get out of control. I do understand how it could affect athletes though. Of course, if sport really shines at the Games, it can make reoccurring appearances like we’ve seen with surfing, skateboarding, and sports climbing.
  17. The sixes finals had a great atmosphere last year. It’s very much a “host pick,” but the v. rivalry should be fun if the IOC approves.
  18. There will be nine channels available globally. MediaPro will produce every session as HB, but I’m not sure if PanamSports Channel will be able to show all produced sessions.
  19. I think we’ll see them design a strategy to increase quotas for this edition.
  20. Yeah, that was a pleasant surprise, especially since there was zero reporting suggesting that.
  21. NBC Sports is reporting that lacrosse and squash are indeed part of the proposal. LA28 will ask for six(!) additional sports at the IOC Session.
  22. Pan American Games next week, but this week is definitely on the lighter side.
