  1. These games are in such disarray. The top athletes aren’t showing up (a rare case in African sport). The games appear to be the King’s vanity project (at least in Sochi Putin didn’t plaster his name and face everywhere at the venues). The venues are meh at best. Local interest is terrible. International interest is terrible. There’s no international live feeds for any sports. The website can’t perform basic functions it should be able to. Plus, today I saw that athletes are talking about how the event doesn’t feel special at all. What are poor showing from Morocco. This is defense the worst multi-sports games of the 2017-2020 cycle (I’m putting them below the 2017 Jeux De La Francophonie and 2018 South American Games). I can’t believe African settled for this horror show, but I understand their problem. They should have just asked Qatar or Bahrain to host the games. At least those two would have fulfilled all the above. Plus, they could’ve used the games to poach more talent from the continent
  2. Great ceremony for a beach games. The start was a bit long, but once it got under way it was good. Hopefully they’ll stream the sports to YouTube as well. That ceremony was still 100% better than the African Games. I’m ready for a few days of beach sport. I don’t watch these events often, so it should be interesting.
  3. In some respect yes, but as I wrote in my article, he was a very talented para-rower. He’d been to multiple world championships and had been rowing for years. It was honestly just a tragic accident. The Thai teams were still definitely affected by that though.
  4. just threw away a huge chance for their first gold medal. Their shooter had led (with bullseye shooting) since the 10th shot in the Mixed 10m Rifle Prone, but at the very last shot he went wayward and gave the gold too ! Great win for our shooter, but feel bad for the Peruvian. So far women have won 2 out of the 3 mixed gender shooting events (both were from the USA). Great performance from the USA and Brazil so far.
  5. Greatest result of all time was the 2016 YOG Single Mixed Relay
  6. Who were the original hosts of this year’s games by the way...
  7. What! What did win gold in? That’s most likely their first Parapan (if not Pan American) Gold Medal of all time!
  8. Visually these new tatami are easier on the eyes (more ascetic), but I am really going to miss the old yellow and red one.
  9. Attendance was really good before it stated to get dark. I think it got pretty cold today. The Shooting venue was louder than it was during the Pan Ams. Table Tennis had loud cheers going all day. There was a good crowd at Judo too.
  10. Well you’re allowed two guides for a reason. That’s the federations fault
  11. There’s an official results app that you can download. Article here: https://www.mbgpatras2019.gr/?section=637&language=en_US&itemid1541=2897&detail1541=1
  12. Silver for in Table Tennis after losing a close match to
  13. He just got the gold medal at the medal ceremony. It appears first place was DQ’d. Gold for then @hckosice
  14. Ceremony is tomorrow if look at the TV Schedule and PDF Schedule. The sports begin tomorrow.
  15. A pile of dog shit would be better than Rabat 2019’s website. There’s a PDF version of the schedule with the right days on it.
  16. World Record for in one of the shot put events. It was on his third throw and he’s finished at the halfway mark. He seems to think he’ll be the only throwing that far today. I’d say he’s right, so good choice to conserve energy.
  17. Silver for in men’s T11 (blind) 5000m @hckosice
  18. is the only Spanish speaking African country (at least as the main language). I’m not sure about their Portuguese credentials.
  19. Bronze for in judo! Brilliant work all day from Subba
  20. Yeah out of all the martial arts, Karate is the one with the most set winners. Good karatekas rarely lose at the top level.
  21. I’ve never seen Wheelchair Tennis played on a clay court before. This could be interesting...
  22. Well there are a few Portuguese speaking African nations ( off the top of my head), but that is a good question. It shouldn’t been there either way.
  23. Gold for ! Not unexpected, Henry Borges is a very good judoka, but still most likely their only gold medal of the games.
  24. Oh, very serious injury for an judoka. The medics had to stretcher him off the tatami. Hopefully he’s okay. He was on the wrong end of a very good ippon, but I think he did something to his foot/ankle before that.
