    Right, I always ignore that thread because I'm constantly one or two finals behind in what I've still got to watch

    But GB is sure it's them, and even in the Netherlands (which is nonsense of course) people are saying the same 4th places and near-misses are somehow always remembered more than successes, it seems.

    And in the women's race Merel Smulders gets basically taken out by two others and Laura Smulders + Judy Baauw are involved in a big early crash, except for the solid looking Kimmann this is looking utterly awful for the Dutch team Even more since Laura Smulders seems injured.

    Rowing was held since 1900. There have been three Olympics where the US didn't participate (obviously 1980, but also two early ones), but other than those, they have always won at least one medal in every Olympics.

    Jelle van Gorkom (silver medal in Rio) in the Dutch TV studio, it's so good to hear him talk fairly normally, even though with some words it's a little hard to understand. He had a very bad crash in training in 2018 and doctors said he might never be able to even communicate in a normal manner anymore due to his brain damage. He's obviously not going to race anymore, but seeing him like this is so good.

    Just saw a replay of the Rio final, can't believe how much more....Olympic that track looked

    Odd timing. It's been raining like this for quite a while and barely 20 minutes ago the teams heard 'go as planned' in the team room, but 2 minutes before the start, it was delayed. Wondering how long it'll take, also considering the whole track is asphalt..

    Depressed would be...odd. Didn't she basically come out of nowhere in the past year or so? And now gets an Olympic medal

    Come on Twigg, 4th in London, 4th in Rio, this would be the kind of gold medal that is so awesome!
