  1. I doubt today will be in any way special Anyhow, from Saturday: One of today, no idea where to find a bigger example (F1 spoiler in there) Like I said, it's not like we have sports newspapers. Most regular newspapers have a sports section, of course, but no idea where to find front pages of those. We don't really have a "front page culture" anyway
  2. William Estvleteren is unfortunately not really climbing the ranks yet.
  3. Alright, time to switch to F1 here, athletics is gonna have to be for a bit later Have fun with the relays and such!
  4. As long as, F1 spoiler....
  5. Lyles 200m, Duplantis, Kipyegon 1500m, Bol, Perez Hernandez, Allman all were higher in my list (ok, also Warholm, Diaz Hernandez and Weber but ignore that ).
  6. Mostly just don't want to make people go through the trouble of measuring a distance they know is useless anyway. Athletiquette, so to say
  7. No second consecutive global gold for Hodgkinson, but awesome race Can't say I had heard much of Odira before this tournament. And silver for Hunter Bell, who asked ChatGPT to decide if she should run the 800 or 1500
  8. Ok that is excellent by Kaul
  9. Alright, so the usual thing before commentators who don't really pay attention get all excited: yes, Kaul is likely to win the javelin. No, if he hits 70 meters (likely beating everyone else), that is not amazing, he needs to close in on 80.
  10. I do think I overestimated Owens-Delerme's chances though, that 4:13 in the forecast is something he did twice, but both already three years ago (college and Eugene worlds), in recent years he has been more of a 4:25-4:35 runner which isn't gonna be enough if Garland has a decent run (4:45-4:55)
  11. Botswanan team dancing towards the call rooms That one European-looking staff member (that would certainly be me):
  12. Meanwhile the women have started their time trial. Significantly better roads than their former colonial overlords in Belgium, btw.
  13. And the fans! Tour of Rwanda has always been an amazing party with entire villages and cities going out on the streets to cheer for the riders. Wall of Kigali is going to be absolutely amazing!
  14. Already under 40 minutes until the decathletes are back at it again btw. All 5 medal candidates only in group B though, so that will still take a while They could have just made the whole thing one group btw with all these withdrawals.
  15. I don't think we have 1 actual sports newspaper
  16. Nope, 5.10m it is, but with that, we're gonna get an amazing fight for gold later today! Now it's time for a bit of sleep
  17. Damn, nearly injures himself....luckily it ended up well
  18. We are now at the point where, if Owens-Delerme and Garland both equal their javelin and 1500m PB's (and Neugebauer doesn't massively improve them), it's actually Owens-Delerme who wins
  19. He makes 5.10m! It is on!
  20. Not yet, Owens-Delerme is of course still in it. If he makes 5.00m, he would be a very big threat for gold. And he makes it! The fight for gold is on for real now!
  21. Garland finally with XXX and with that, finally time for me to get a little bit of sleep
  22. Kaul doesn't get over 4.80m and that's probably that for his chance for bronze.
  23. By the way, Kate O'Connor really did something amazing yesterday: she scored 6714 points, which was not just a 227 point PB, but arguably more impressively, it was 35 points more than the combined score of all of her (pre-Tokyo) single event PB's In the decathlon nobody is staying anywhere near that feat, only Ferranti might, if he has an amazing finish, stay within 100 points or so. Sandrina Sprengel was the only one in the heptathlon who stayed within 100 points (barely), nobody got anywhere near it, just to reiterate how incredible O'Connor's tournament has been.
  24. NM for Kopecky
  25. Neugebauer drops the bar with his pole, despite easily clearing it
