  1. Yes, Mexican thing
  2. And before you know it, the same thing happens as in Brazil: huge investments in the run-up to the Olympics, even big investments in winter sports despite them hosting the Summer Olympics, and once the Olympics are gone....investments drop to below zero
  3. Surprising to hear that from a trans woman who won gold at the track cycling masters world champs by not very surprisingly annihilating her opposition
  4. Wait a minute...Kurt Angle is still there?! Booooooo! Stone Cold Steve Austin all the way And The Undertaker That's so cool, they were fighting already back when I still watched WWF when I was a kid (10-11 years old I think, somewhere around 2000)
  5. So now FloGymnastics is wrong? https://www.flogymnastics.com/articles/6261040-russias-artur-dalaloyan-wins-gold-at-2018-gymnastics-worlds-in-qatar This seems like rather poor English either on my side or in the rules, but what's "the highest sum of the final apparatus scores"?
  6. Wait, it's not the highest individual score that counts? Edit, just read it's something else entirely
  7. Yep. Even using placement points or something (like 1 for the highest score on an apparatus, 2 for the 2nd score and so on) would seem more fair than letting the absolute highest score decide, considering on some things it's relatively easier to get a higher score..
  8. Yeah, me too Unlike for example my dad who, surprise, has been in the army for basically all of his adult life (since he was 17 or 18 I think, he's 55 now and still in it).
  9. Me neither Although it wouldn't be a bad way to get some discipline.
  10. Ukraine is actually quite a sad one, considering with @Xander we do have a Ukrainian user who is not online 24/7 but definitely posts on the forum every now and then, yet apparently never participates in TISC
  11. Are you in the army high school? Or secretly British?
  12. They're also not walking in the streets Luckily, because I prefer to eat my candies instead of giving them away.
  13. Nobody ever came here during Halloween and I very much doubt that's gonna change. Not surprising, considering I live in the heart of what is in the Netherlands called the 'Bible Belt' 11 November is a bit of a thing in the Catholic part of the country apparently (where children go door by door and get candies), but catholic people are rare in the Bible Belt so it's not really a thing here.
  14. I think "Chorando se foi quem um dia só me fez chorar" is one of the very first bits of Portuguese I ever learned Closely followed by: Followed by 'E ninguem cala' by the fans of Botafogo which became my favourite team And then next is a bunch of songs from Ivete Sangalo who for a while I really liked way too much at the time I was introduced to Brazilian music
  15. The world is full with strange traditions, I'm sure every country has their things that make people from other countries think "uhm...right"
  16. 15 years too young?
  17. I mean I think in general athletes - no matter their nationality - want to compete against the best in the world - no matter their nationality.
  18. I think most world class athletes want to fight all other world class athletes no matter their nationality.
  19. Nowadays that's the one that would stuck in my mind the most as a non-fan, but 'Apolo Ohno' just had some mythical tone to my young ears
  20. Mine was Apolo Ohno because when I was a kid and short track was still an obscurity besides the 'real' speed skating (at least here) I thought his name was so awesome
  21. I am expecting a whole bunch of Slovak points just because we have some beaches. They're ugly as hell and full of Germans digging holes to keep their places, but they're beaches.
  22. Rumour has it this Egyptian wrestler almost lost his head at the world champs, so they used a bit of tape they had laying around....
  23. I had not made the fantastic impression I have made in years since, so people didn't want to vote for the stranger.
