Comme on s'approche de la fin de la période de qualification, faisons le point sur les derniers points d'interrogations sur les chances françaises: Athlétisme (minimas, 11/07): La période de qualif' se termine au 11 juillet. Pour l'heure, 20 quotas ont été assurés, on devrait pouvoir battre les 42 de Londres. Basketball (TQOs, 13/06 et 04/07) Aucun soucis pour les filles à prévoir, pour les garçons, je ne suis pas rassuré... Boxe (TQO 16/06) Trois boxers devraient encore jouer leur qualif'. A suivre également le bordel sur le cas Djelkhir Cyclisme - BMX (Ranking, 31/05) Reste les championnats du monde à courir ce week-end. Pas de suspens chez les filles, qui resteront avec une seule qualifiée. Pour les garçons, l'objectif est de rester 4ème nation mondiale pour conserver 3 quotas. Les Grands-Bretons ne sont pas loin derrière Pentathlon (Ranking, 31/05) Marie Oteiza sera t-elle à Rio ? Pour se qualifier, elle doit finir dans les 8 meilleurs non déjà qualifiées (elle est 5ème actuellement). Réponse après les championnats du monde ce week-end. Tir à l'Arc (TQO 23/05 et 13/06) Les Championnat d'Europe viennent de débuter. il faudra finir dans les 3 premiers des non qualifiés pour participer à Rio. Valladont a terminé premier des qualif' Schuh, 6ème. Réponse vendredi. Pour une éventuelle qualification d'une ou des deux équipes, rendez-vous en juin. Volley-ball (TQO 28/05) Le parcours de combattants des bleus va enfin prendre fin. Pas de raison que cela se passe mal Beach Volleyball (Ranking 26/06) A moins d'un ou deux très gros résultats d'ici fin juin, cela devrait pas le faire pour Krou/Rowlandson. Restera un tournoi de qualif en Norvège le 22 juin.

Would it been that much of a hurdle for greco roman wrestlers to switch to freestyle ? For the uneducated eye (again), the difference in techniques or physics doesn't seem that obvious.

I don't think it's too woriisome yet. If tennis is anything to go by, the first tournament in Seoul was missing a lot of top tennis players (Wilander, Lendl, Becker, Noah, etc.) It takes some time to establish it.

Imo, it's a 50-50 type of situation. Nor teams are water-polo powerhouse, and it really might be their only chance to make to the olympics in a very long time. France didn't particpate since 1992 (damn you Yugoslavia, you're greatly missed), the Netherlands since 2000.

Ok, thank you for the explanation. Sadly enough, it's the first time in decades that water polo is broadcasted live on french tv and we end up with such a travesty.
