  1. Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner managed to earn an astonishing 2nd place in Nacra 17 at the Sailing World Cup Weymouth & Portland in a field with nearly all Rio top boats. Now they have to wait if the NOC will follow the recommendation of the German sailing federation (DSV).

Announcement will made either on Juni 28th or latest on Juli 12th.

What? It doesn't matter how Australia qualified in women's singles. That quota still needs to be reallocated at the end. First it will go to New Zealand, and if they refuse to Nigeria.

It seems to me that it does matter, because of the following facts:

34 Single Places (including the 5 Continental Representation Places)

    + 1 x Host Country Place (HC)

+ 3 x Unused Athlet Quota Places from Doubles (UAQ)

+ 3 x Reallocation of Unused Tripartite Commission Invitation Places (RUT)

Place 1-32 (including Continental Representation of Asia, Europe, America)

(without following the Continental Representation)/with Continental Representation

    (33) UAQ - :SUI - Sabrina Jaquet

    (34) UAQ - :IRL - Chlor Magee

(UAQ) UAQ - :POR - Telma Santos

(UAQ) AFR - :MRI - Kate Foo Kune (Continental Representation of Africa)

(UAQ) RUT - :EST - Kati Tolmoff

(HC) HC - :BRA - Lohaynny Vicente

(RUT) RUT - :HUN - Laura Sarosi

(RUT) AUS - :AUS - Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen (Continental Representation of Australia)

(RUT) RUT - :LTU - Akvile Stapusaityte

so no place open, correct me if I'm wrong

BWF announced Australia picked its men's and mixed pairs to compete in Rio (source), meaning both single spots were offered to New Zealan. If I interpret correctly the nomination criteria, NZL might not select them, and as there is no other player from Oceania that satisfy the minimum criteria for participation in Rio, those place could end going to Mexico (in men) :pope: and the Netherlands (in women).

just a little correction on that one

    Zitat

....As there were no Tripartite places taken up in Women’s Singles, the highest Oceania representative (No.74 Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen) qualified on ranking (source)

that means just the reallocation of the mens single quota place

Here's what the minimum they need to do in the last tournament in order to grab the last spot

:FIN  LEHTONEN/LAHTI: finish in 3rd place; Chinese or Argentinian pairs don't advance to the 2nd round of direct elimination; Russian pair doesn't advance to quarterfinals; Vanuatu doesn't advance to semifinals.

A little correction on that very hypothetical occurrence:

:FIN  LEHTONEN/LAHTI: finish in 2nd place, if the Chinese pair doesn't advance to the 2nd round of direct elimination; finish in 3rd place, if the Argentinian pair doesn't advance to the 2nd round of direct elimination; Russian pair doesn't advance to quarterfinals; Vanuatu doesn't advance to semifinals.

  5. If either of the two boats fulfills the extra criteria the German sailing federation (DSV) will strongly recommend to the German NOC to take that Nacra 17 boat quota place, and most likely the NOC will follow this recommendation, but if neither of the two boats can finish within the top 10, the NOC will most likely reject the Nacra 17 boat quota place.

  6. On May 31st the German NOC (DOSB) has already nominated 6 of the 7 boat quota places:

Annika Bochmann und Marlene Steinherr (470er women)

Ferdinand Gerz und Oliver Szymanski (470er men)

Erik Heil und Thomas Plößel (49er)

Victoria Jurczok und Anika Lorenz (49erFX)

    Philipp Buhl (Laser Standard)

    Toni Wilhelm (RS:X Surfboard)

The nomination for the last boat quota place (Nacra 17) is still in progress, because no Nacra 17 boat could fulfill the national criteria.

The national sailing federation (DSV) offers a last chance to Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner and Jan Hauke Erichsen/Lea Spitzmann.

If one of the boats gets a top 10 result at the Sailing World Cup Weymouth & Portland (06 Jun - 12 Jun) the NOC will most likely nominate this boat.

If both boats are within the top 10 at the Sailing World Cup Weymouth & Portland (06 Jun - 12 Jun) the NOC will most likely nominate:

    1. Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner, if they are superior or not inferior than two (2) places to Jan Hauke Erichsen/Lea Spitzmann by taking into consideration the results of the national qualification.

    2. Jan Hauke Erichsen/Lea Spitzmann, just if they are three (3) places superior to Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner by taking into consideration the results of the national qualification.
