Swimming Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
maestro replied to Totallympics's topic in Swimming
A swimmer has an OQT in event A and an OCT in event B. There isn't anyone with an OQT from that NOC in event B. Is that swimmer allowed to start in both events? My answer would be certainly not, but apparently our federation thinks they are. -

I'm afraid something went wrong with editing results for the women's tournament and some are left from the previous week. This week, Graudina / Samoilova won silver, Huberli / Brunner were second last week. Furthermore, while Fernandez / Soria did win bronze, the text still mentions Alvarez / Moreno who were 4th last week.

Marathon Swimming at the Aquatics WA World Championships 2024

A contradiction regarding how the host country quota gets reallocated is my interpretation. Paragraph D1.2 of the qualification document mentions that an unused host country quota ends up to the next highest placed athlete from 2024 World Championships. This would mean Brazil, as their athlete finished 14th. However, paragraph F2 states that an unused host country place is reallocated to the next highest placed NOC from 2024 World Championships, provided that the NOC is not yet qualified. If this is applied after handing out continental quotas, Peru is first on the line. Peru's federation first reported that they got a quota on 13 March, much earlier than world aquatics. -

Now that it's all over, I'd like to offer my congratulations to @Gianlu33,@Henry_Leon, @Pablita, @SteveParker on their win , but also to @Wandererand @Belle on their medals . Extending my congratulations to @Henry_Leon, who run the contest smoothly throughout and hosted a great show this weekend . Thank you to those who voted for our song, @Roamingrover86, @OlympicIRL, @Wumo, @IoNuTzZ, @Wanderer, @vinipereira . Unfortunately my song choice proved to be completely unsuccessful and the result is rather awful, but it is what it is. We can only aim at better results from here. A huge thank you to our teammates @Belle, @Wanderer, @NikolaB, @Ionoutz24 . You gifted us the team event gold, as I think our song contributed just 7 points out of the 466. Below you can see my personal ballot. 1st 12 pts Netherlands 2nd 11 pts Spain 3rd 10 pts Indonesia 4th 9 pts Ireland 5th 8 pts United States 6th 7 pts Chile 7th 6 pts France 8th 5 pts Croatia 9th 4 pts India 10th 3 pts Portugal 11th 2 pts Brazil 12th 1 pts Czechia Res1 Great Britain Res2 New Zealand Res3 Sweden As a general comment, we were two jury members this time, however we voted 22 different songs. Brazil and Portugal were the only songs that got points from both of us. This was my 6th TISC. I haven't voted for the winning song twice and both times it was Italy. This was the first time that I didn't give points to any of the eventual medallists. New Zealand and Sweden were both among my reserves. I have never been as sure that a song is going to win, as I was with the Dutch entry this time. I'm very surprised it only got 10th place. As a whole, this was another fun experience and the fight for gold was thoroughly enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again in the next open contest this autumn!
