Purnima is surely an medal prospect in Heptathlon, A medal expectation is more likely from her.

Not less than Gold is acceptable from the women's 4x400m relay team.

Can the women walkers provide an unexpected medal, Though cant ignore them. Surely a outside chance.

Expect a medal in High Jump. though at the border. Would be a great motivation for him in future to perform more better. A NR would surely guarantee a medal.

Neeraj is a sure medal prospect for India, Need to see which color he can manage. Can Vipin Kasana get a surprise medal in Men's Javelin....Though looks a outside chance, But need to see anybody can go forward.

Agree. I feel Juve has slight edge over 2 legged ties. My predictions are Barca, Bayern, Juve & ManC

gvaisakh reacted to thepharoah in Men's Football UEFA European Champions League 2017 - 2018
Sevilla is mush far from upsetting ManU , Juventus ofc is the more experienced team , but the Spurs have been solid along the last 3 years and they have gained much experience in Europe and they have the better result , till now , so i can say it's 55-45 for Spurs , but Juventus is always a team that's able to win in those hard conditions , in 2016 they were just couple of minutes fromdoing so to much more bigger team that Spurs , Bayern Munich before Muller tied the game in the stoppage time

gvaisakh reacted to Dolby in India National Thread
As usual, good work @gvaisakh. I hope you will continue to give daily predictions/assessments at least.
Regarding arguments, completely agree. With the huge increase in members, some friction is bound to happen. Already we had some heated discussions regarding Tennis and Wrestling. During Olympics, passion would be higher, so number and level of arguments is bound to increase.
I, personally, follow some rules to minimize the arguments I am part of. I am sharing them here, so others may follow it if they want.
1) Ignore users who I find biased, bigoted, silly or just looking for trouble. Luckily, I don't find any such users in Indian community but there are a couple in the forum. So, I only reply to them with fact and never with opinion. I even try and avoid posting about those users' countries as much as possible.
2) Limit number of posts on a particular topic. If I find that an argument is going on for a long time, I tend to stop posting about it even if the discussion has been civil.
3) Assume that other users are not idiots, are genuine sports fans and have no malice.
4) When in a real bad mood, just log off.
I follow these rules because I don't see any benefit from participating in arguments here from a strictly Return On Investment point of view.
Also, I would like to give one more advice to some of the new users, post in other threads as well. It will improve your experience here.

UPDATED (1st Page - 3rd Post)
Sorry for the delay. Got held up with work
4th post will include the result of all athletes at Rio 2016
5th post will include the daily schedule of Indian athletes at Rio 2016 (Will be updated by 31st July)
Those who were part of the old Totallympics and were members during London 2012 knew that I posted detailed list of each athlete and predicted the expected performance of each & every one. I might not do it this time due to crunch of time and also other members have already made lot of predictions (hence, it will be more of duplicate posts)
ONE IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL INDIAN MEMBERS HERE - During London 2012, there were lot of arguments among our members and some of them turned out to be bad ones and I was forced to warn few members. This time, since the number of Indian members has increased, I am expecting more arguments but please make it healthy discussions and please avoid foul language or disrespect any member or nation or athlete
WISHING EVERYONE AN ENJOYABLE RIO OLYMPICS 2016 & WISHING BEST WISHES TO INDIAN CONTINGENT

update from the Indian Olympics qualifiers weightlifting - day 3
Women - thasana Chanu scored by world standards a pretty average 187 ......... but amongst the women qualifiers finished second for a valuable 25 points ....India is more less surely in for a quota ... as of now the only interest left is to see
1) if we have any really good weightlifter by world standards ......other mirakhom / sanjita / punam ( we need to have 4 good weightlifters to gain quotas )
2) if punam yadav improves on her world championship effort
3) who comes first us or vietnam .............. vietnam is ahead as of now .......................
Men - Indian Men - Sambo did a great job to lift 287 ....... ( compared to pupul changmais world championship effort in the same weights at 275 ) ..................by world standards a pretty average lift ................. but for India very valuable as it garnered 19 points ......................... This pushes India back into quota contention ...... specifically as Sri Lanka's one lifter did a no lift as did one saudi ......................
Indian Mens weightlifting is very interesting
1) will we qualify ...................... after a couple of below par days Sambo did well ................... now satish , vikas and Venkata Ragala and Pardeep need to do well ..........
to qualify we need 6 weightlifters out of 8 to get 19 points on an average ............. we have got 2 ( out of 3 ) who got it deepak lather( 19 ) and now unexpectedly Sambo ( 19 ) .......
so it is very interesting .......................... also the fact that some of the sri lankan and KSA lifters did no lifts today helps india....... Malaysia , Iraq and japan I feel will be at 1-3 ...... so it will be to fight it out for the next 4 places ....it is neck to neck right now ...today Inched from a poor position to a better position ........................so good job SAMBO ...............
