  1. Wait, so we can't send Despina Georgiadou in the women's sabre because we already have one athlete qualified in that event? She is ranked around 30 or so I think. Or you just posted the countries that don't have any quotas yet?
  2. I mean congratulations I guess, but it's disappointing as a Greek that we actually send table tennis players from our own country and not China, only for them to lose in Olympic qualifying to people like Wang who represent...Slovakia...
  3. Fortunately for them they are young so they will have other chances in the future to go to the Olympics. I am shocked to see Tsoulfa make it, she retired 15 years ago and now is back!
  4. Panagiotis Gionis in the final! He is one win away from making it to his 5th Olympics
  5. We had Sofia Bekatorou as Olympic champion in 470 (2004) and bronze in Yngling (2008) switch to Nacra 17 (2016) and she qualified for it
  6. Yes, but Greece chose to send Spanaki/Tsoulfa instead as they finished higher at this year's World Championships. This was confirmed by the Hellenic Olympic Committee on their official Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/p/CMXCWFWAn-T/ Greece can only send one team unfortunately.
  7. So happy our girl Theodora Gkountoura has officially qualified now! In 2019 she became the first Greek fencer to win a medal at the World Championships. Now it's time for her to become the first Greek fencer to win an Olympic medal since 1896!
  8. So Bozi/Klonaridou lost their spot to Spanaki/Tsoulfa. Such a ridiculous decision by the Greek Sailing Federation. Tsoulfa may be a former Olympic gold medalist but that was in 2004. She is going to be 48 years old in Tokyo. Bozi and Klonaridou won the quota place for us in 2018. They did very well over the last five years. They deserve to be in Tokyo. Spanaki/Tsoulfa came out of nowhere to "steal" their spot. This is so unfair. At least Bozi and Klonaridou are young so they will have more chances to go to the Olympics but this is very disappointing. We haven't even qualified anyone in this event since Tsoulfa's gold in 2004. If she wanted to continue then she could've gone in Beijing, London or Rio. Now that we finally have a good young team in the women's 470, they don't get to go because of these dumb rules imposed by our federation. Hopefully Mantis/Kagialis hold onto their place. We will know about them tomorrow.
  9. Well we can forget them now because the Greek Sailing Federation decided to send Ariadne-Paraskevi Spanaki and Emilia Tsoulfa instead. Tsoulfa will be 48 in Tokyo...
  10. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edessa,_Greece Don't be surprised if you get some points from Greece with a name like that. One of the most beautiful towns here in northern Greece
  11. Greece using this event as internal Olympic qualification. Very controversial. Right now Mantis/Kagialis and Bozi/Klonaridou are leading, but the other Greek crews are close behind. I hope they hold on to their leads because it would be very unfair otherwise. Mantis/Kagialis were our best men's team from 2009-2012 but missed London because the federation selected another team. Then they won bronze in Rio. They were by far our best team 2017-2020 so it would be a crime if they don't get to go to Tokyo. Same thing with the women. Bozi/Klonaridou have been the best Greek team over the past four years and they deserve to go to Tokyo. Spanaki/Tsoulfa (the other team) shouldn't go. Tsoulfa won gold in Athens 2004 and retired soon afterwards and now I guess she came back. However I don't think it's fair to Bozi/Klonaridou who worked so hard and earned the quota place and deserve it.
  12. Papachristou only fifth in the end Very disappointing because I had high hopes for her. She won medals at the last four European Championships and since she is WL for 2021, I didn't expect her medal streak to end here in Torun, especially since she was so good in qualifying the other day also. However I must say it is okay to finish fifth in such a strong competition. Didn't expect this to be a strong year but all three medalists jumped over 14.50, first time that happened in any European Championship in more than a decade! Congratulations to all medalists. Sad to see Greece leave Torun with only one medal, first time since 2013 at any European Championships (indoor or outdoor) with so few medals but at least the medal we won was a gold which makes it better for us. Also Vasiliou and Zakka achieved new PBs which is a good sign, even though Vasiliou said she will retire after Tokyo, I hope she changes her mind. She is only 30 and really only made it to major competitions the last 4-5 years, before that she did nothing and she's at her peak now so why stop?!
  13. Papachristou 5th after four jumps. She is WL (14.60) this year so I really expected better from her. 14.31 not enough but usually it's good enough for a medal in the women's triple jump at the European level. Mamona with NR and German girl with huge PB though....wow. If Papachristou can jump close to 14.60 she should still win gold, but has to improve on these last two jumps.
  14. Eckhardt 14.52 in triple jump, wow, her previous PB was 14.17 only
  15. Very proud of Polak for finishing fifth. This was by far her best result ever in a big competition. She has improved a lot every year, and just a few weeks ago she achieved the qualifying standard for Tokyo (she also did it in the summer but it didn't count then). Unfortunately this was the first major competition since the 2014 World Indoors that we didn't win a medal in women's pole vault, and first since the 2013 World Championships that we didn't win a medal in either men's or women's pole vault. It is a shame that Kyriakopoulou is injured because this could've been a great chance for her to finally win gold after one silver and three bronze in the past. I hope Papachristou does well tomorrow. I expect her to win a medal, hopefully gold but we'll see...
  16. What happened in the women's pole vault? I saw Polak had three misses at 4.65 so I thought she was out and I turned it off, but now I see she's back and had XXO at that height. She was complaining to the officials and was showing them a video so maybe one of her misses didn't count?
  17. Gold medal and world leader despite a knee injury. Bravo MILTIADIS TENTOGLOU Third consecutive European gold medal at the men's level for the 22 year old (2018 European, 2019 European indoors, 2021 European indoors)
  18. Yes, WL but now he skipped the second and third jumps and Montler had 8.31, so I'm getting nervous...
  19. For swimming Ioannis Georgarakis will also be a part of the men's 4 x 100 freestyle relay team
  20. http://sportsfeed.gr/i-korakaki-simaioforos-stin-teleti-enarxis/ It's in Greek only
  21. Good result for Olympiacos yesterday to advance against PSV Next round against Arsenal. This is the 79634325157826th time that the two will face each other in a European competition in recent years
  22. Before it was just fake news, but now it is official that Anna Korakaki will be our flag bearer. It was announced today.
  23. I guess Tiger Woods (men's golf)
  24. Douvalidis announced today that he is injured and will not be going to Torun anymore. I was hoping he could do well, he was 5th in 2019...
