  1. And rumour has it that Israel has been invited to replace them in The Committee.
  2. By the way, who survived in The Committee this time and who received the cement shoes treatment?
  3. By the way, another interesting stat is that this contest was the first time ever that Australia finished outside the top 10
  4. @Wanderer ruined your streak. He awarded 12 points to your song in the 2017 Open and crashed your streak

  6. I wonder will we ever see a tie for position (truly tied after all criteria have been exhausted). I guess it's more likely to happen with low scoring songs and even then it's still not that likely to happen.
  7. There was no theme, the contest in the latter part of the year is always the Open edition. Therefore the only restriction is that the song cannot come from the most recent 5 years. It can come from any year before that.

  9. I am reading and listening to all viewpoints. I don't want to write too much as I'd like the conversation to keep flowing, that way more ideas can be generated. I was thinking though, maybe this should also be a more Totallympics-wide discussion. I mean it would be nice to replace the Olympics void with something new and different. It wouldn't just have to be a TISC event. I guess there could be ideas about any type of event to bring us together during that time. And it could be a single event, or a range of events spanning the 16 days or so (more if you count the days pre-Opening ceremony) that the 2020 Olympics would have been held.
  10. That may well happen in future as their sound is very much to my liking
  11. Had no idea they were a thing outside of Ireland
  12. I posted the final shortlist of songs from the Irish national selection on the Music Thread. Labour of Love was the easy winner amongst the final list.
  13. Here are the other 15 songs from the Irish National Final shortlist for TISC Annual 2020. Max of 2 songs per artist. Song 1: ELM - Fear Song 2: Whenyoung - The Others Song 3: The Academic - Aftertaste Song 4: The Script - Run Through Walls Song 5: Dermot Kennedy - Outnumbered Song 6: SOAK - Déjà Vu Song 7: Walking On Cars - Monster Song 8: Áine Cahill - Dislocated Song 9: Moncrieff - Ghost Song 10: Picture This - One Night Song 11: Inhaler - Ice Cream Sundae Song 12: ELM - Paris Song 13: Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me Song 14: Lenii - Yellow Song 15: Niall Horan - Put A Little Love On Me
  14. I think it's a nice idea. It would mean having to involve a neutral party which I am sure we will be able to find helpers and having ways to make sure people are not nominating the same country. It would also mean that members of our usual multi-member juries in TISC would be free to compete on their own for a change.
  15. Sure, we can discuss about the possibility of that on the TISC Discussion thread. @Vektor already added your idea there and I responded on my initial thoughts.
  16. Sure, we can discuss it, there is no harm in that. If users want a special once-off edition because of the year we are having with the virus and Olympics being cancelled then we can of course follow that wish IF it is the wish of the community. We would also want to discuss what it would involve. TISC Open 2020 in Netherlands will still be the milestone 15th TISC edition, so this would be seen as a special one of a kind type edition, separate from the mainstream editions. Also it might be fun to make it one where we represent the nations who are absent from TISC or Totallympics in general. But that can also be decided upon. It would first need to be shown that there is an appetite for it (at least a few users showing interest), and then there would be a vote and finally a discussion about the format.
  17. As the next host I am sure you will have a bag of statistics prepared, after all it's a milestone edition (the 15th TISC) *Don't worry, the TISC stats team will be on hand
  18. Ok, so just a few words now that the votes have been counted and we have found our new champion. Big congratulations to Canada for a historic victory. First win for Canada, first non-European win, and to do so in a final vote showdown is extra exciting @intoronto Congratulations to China on a wonderful silver medal, a first-ever medal for Asia @Vic Liu And well done also to France, bouncing back to claim another podium finish for the first time in a while. Another bronze to add to the collection. I am sure it's a very sweet feeling for French jurors @Bohemia and @Benolympique A huge round of applause and word of thanks for our wonderful host @dcro. The hosting has been impeccable and it was a high quality edition from start to finish in every aspect, right until the very last vote cast. Take your well earned breather now And finally thank you to all who voted for the Irish song. It was uplifting to see that other connected with the song and a special word of thanks to @kungshamra71 and @dcro once again for awarding the 12 points. It was an honour . And thank you of course to @Werloc and @heywoodu for the 10 points and to every country who gave "Labour of Love" some love. And most of all, thank you all for making this a wonderful day and keeping the contest a unique and enjoyable experience. I am really grateful you all spend your time helping to make this contest strong. I can't wait to do it all over again in the Netherlands for TISC Open 2020!!
  19. I am already imagining there is going to be an alternative committee being formed in the shadows and there is going to be an almighty battle soon
  20. We should post our national finalists in the Music Thread over the next couple of days for when TISC leaves a big hole in our lives again
