  1. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Qualification period for karate started 6 days ago and we are waiting for olympic rankings to be published. Qualification period for triathlon started on 11th May. So far none of our triathletes are on individual olympic ranking list or mixed relay ranking list. Croatia is currently in 39th place on men's mountain bike olympic qualification ranking list and in 29th place on women's mountain bike olympic qualification ranking list. Best 21 countries from the rankings will obtain olympic quotas. Olympic qualification period in track cycling started 2 days ago.
  2. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Judo qualifications for Olympic Games in Tokyo started on May 25th 2018. Athletes are competing in various tournaments to collect points for ranking list. Deadline for obtaining points for Olympic qualification is May 25th 2020. If the qualification period would finished today we would have 2 quotas, one in men's one in women's competition. Current rankings (July 2018.): M -60 kg: no Croats on ranking list M -66 kg: no Croats on ranking list M -73 kg: no Croats on ranking list M -81 kg: no Croats on ranking list M -90 kg: no Croats on ranking list M -100 kg: no Croats on ranking list M +100 kg: Marko KUMRIC is currently on 19th position which is enough for Olympic qualification. W -48 kg: no Croats on ranking list W -52 kg: no Croats on ranking list W -57 kg: Tena SIKIC is at the moment in 30th place which is the last place for Olympic ticket in that category W -63 kg: no Croats on ranking list W -70 kg: no Croats on ranking list W -78 kg: no Croats on ranking list W +78 kg: no Croats on ranking list Next competition for our judokas is Zagreb Grand Prix 2018, which starts on July, 27th.
  3. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 In taekwondo athletes can qualify for Olympic Games through several different ways. At the moment, the most important qualification is by Olympic ranking. Points from tournaments from all over the world are taking into account for this ranking list. The top five ranked athletes in each weight category on the WT Olympic Ranking which reflected result until Grand Prix Final of December 2019 will qualify one quota place each for their NOC for the Olympic Games. Current rankings (July 2018.): M -58 kg: 83. Leon GLASNOVIC M -68 kg: 6. Lovre BRECIC M -80 kg: 7. Toni KANAET M +80 kg: 14. Vedran GOLEC W -49 kg: 5. Kristina TOMIC W -57 kg: 6. Nikita GLASNOVIC W -67 kg: 9. Matea JELIC W +67kg: 11. Iva RADOS 2018 El Hassan Cup International Open in Amman, Jordan is G1 tournament that counts for the rankings. Yesterday, Nikita Glasnoic won the tournament in her weight category (-57 kg). Toni Kanaet won the tournament in -73 kg, and Lovre Brecic was second in his weight category (-63 kg). Leon Glasnovic lost in quarterfinals (-63 kg). Next tournament is Korea Open from July 18th.
  4. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Croatia men's field hockey team played a Hockey Series Open tournament in Zagreb. 5 teams played each other and two best team qualified for next stage. This tournament was first step towards qualifying to Olympic Games. Austria and Wales won first two places and qualified to the next phase. Croatia was third and lost all chances for olympic ticket. Our women's field hockey team didn't compete. That means that qualifications for Olympic Games are finished for our field hockey teams.   5. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Croatia women's handball team qualified to 2018. European Women's Handball Championship in France. The winner of that competition will get a ticket to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Our team joined the qualification process in phase 2. We played in group 1 with Norway, Ukraine and Switzerland. With three wins and three lost matches our team won 2nd place in that group and qualified to European Championship. European Championship in France starts in November 2018, and we eiwill play in group C with Hungary, Spain and Netherlands. The winner of that competition will get a ticket to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Our team joined the qualification process in stage 2. We played two matches against Montenegro.   7. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Our men's basketball team played their 1st round qualification matches for FIBA 2019 World Basketball Championship in China. After we lost two matches in 2017. our team struggled to even qualify to the next phase of qualifications. We managed to pass into the next phase thanks to our NBA players that were available for our team in last two matches against Italy and Romania. Three teams from our group will join to Lithuania, Poland and Hungary in group J and three best teams from that group will qualify for World Cup. Results from first round are carried over to the second round-. Our first match will be played in September in Croatia against Lithuania. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Croatia women's football team played three matches in 2018. in qualifications for 2019 FIFA women's World Cup in France where European teams will fight for Olympic Games. In April, we lost at home to Ukraine by 0-3 and Hungary by 1-3. In June, we lost a match against Sweden in Gothenburg by 0-4. Currently we are in the last place in our group and we lost all chances to qualify for World Championship and Olympic Games.   9. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Our men's U-21 football team played two matches in 2018. in their qualification group for Euro U21 in Italy. They played against Czech Republic in Karvina (CZE) and lost 2-1. Caleta-Car scored a goal for Croatia. Four days later we played in Velika Gorica against Moldova and won 4-0. Goalscorers for Croatia were Vlasic (2), Jakolis and Karacic. At the momen, we are in second place in our group and we are in position to advance to play-offs becaues we are in top four of second placed teams from all qualifying groups. Next match we will play in September in Belarus. We played first match in September in Ukraine. The match finished with result 1 - 1. Four days later we lost from Sweden in Varazdin 0 - 2. In October we played two matches - draw (2 - 2) in Hungary and defeat at home against Denmark (0 - 4).   22. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 Our men's U-21 football team continued with good results in their qualification group for U-21 European championship in Italy. After win against Moldova they played their match against Belarus in Varazdin in October. Croatia won 2 - 1. Simic and Benkovic scored goals for Croatia, both in extra-time. Four days later our team played on the same stadium against Czech Republic and won the match 5 - 1. Vlasic scored two goals and Karacic, Brekalo and Moro one goal. We also played two matches in November. We won a match in Velika Gorica against San Marino by 5 - 0. Jakolis scored three goals and Brekalo and Bockaj one goal.   23. CROATIAN ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 We can already say that qualifications for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games started. On August 31st our men's U21 football team started their qualifications for 2019 U21 UEFA European Championship in Italy. Our team is in group 1 with Belarus, Czech Republic, Greece, Moldova and San Marino. Group winners and four best runners-up from all nine groups will qualify for the final tournament. Best four teams from that tournament will qualify for Olympic Games. Our team played their 1st round match in Moldova and won 3-0. Goalscorers were Ćorić and Brekalo who scored two goals. Next match we play on October 5th against Belarus in Varždin. Croatian football team has never qualified for Olympic Games.
