  1. Latvia wins the individual 5000m title. Not sure many would have predicted that. The perils of using 3 long distance races Congrats
  2. FWIW I wouldn't have had Jack as favourite. IN the world rankings for example he was behind and here. Those three are closely matched though has won 2 of their last 3 bouts but Jack did beat him at the 2022 Euro champs (SF)
  3. A couple of slight upsets already in the womens 60kg with over and over So hard to gage form though as a lot haven't really been involved internationally this year
  4. Does anybody know if there's a list of the overall individual rankings published? I know top 3 in each event will get an individual medal and it'd be interesting to see some from Group 2 or even Group 3 get some medals. You have to think Albania from D3 could get a medal in the 3000m steeplechase. Maybe even gold
  5. Yes, so weird that that's the only place I could find them. Unfortunately Ireland won't be represented at 92kg so our federation likely won't post them. Hopefully everything is updated elsewhere soon
  6. All the boxing draws are here http://iaba.ie/olympic-champion-kellie-harrington-will-open-team-irelands-european-games-campaign/
  7. win Division 3 Won 13/37 events Top 3 in 31/37 events Seems like the whole team had a great time missing most of our best athletes. A great 3 days
  8. I think just need to finish each event now to get the win
  9. Good morning for Ireland. Should ease to promotion now. Delighted to see 19 year old Nicola Tuthill continue to improve in the hammer. She could be a contender in a few years
  10. Some of you may find this interesting. The Team Ireland media guide contains details on the Irish team including their schedule PDF
  11. For the flag bearers will be 100m hurdler Sarah Lavin and C1 slalom canoeist Liam Jegou Our team is 121 athletes in 17 sports. 12 boxers will be of most interest here with Olympic places on the line. Ireland has a strong kick boxing history and will hope to win medals here in the new sport I’m happy to see we’re sending teams in sports like padel, fencing and archery too
  12. The rankings that only include the correct timeframe have the same top 5 but in different order. GB are now 3rd ahead of Slovenia and Denmark. Australia are 8th ahead of Spain. The USA move into top 10 ahead of Colombia Ecuador are now 21st but with Carapaz back to winning action, they may leap ahead of Austria in 20th or Eritrea in 19th soon
  13. This climb is mental The drone shots are great too
  14. Very harsh calling that a snooze fest. All 3 GC men tried to attack. They’re just all similar levels with Thomas slightly ahead of the rest
  15. I’ve no idea. Sorry.
  16. Dopers aren’t usually known for their humility
  17. Most countries experiment a little for the European championships. Some of the bigger names are missing while others try some combinations for the first time
  18. Add 12 to the quotas today thanks to the women’s rugby team
  19. Great news for Womens rugby in Ireland has been under a bit of a microscope recently with the 15s team having their worst ever year and players openly talking about lack of resources. So this qualification was badly needed. Surprised to see beat in the other game but it probably still means (in euro games) and (in Oceania) will qualify meaning the top sides will all go to Paris without the last qualifier
  20. It’s kinda crazy seeing the levels of sprinters here compared to the Giro
  21. Individual federations and Olympic committees often have different view points Posters can talk however sarcastically they like but surely they realise that politicians will be getting involved for the Olympic discussion while they probably have no idea what judo is, never mind whether their national federation is attending the world championships
  22. 2020 was clearly the biggest freak result. The race overlapped with the Vuelta To be fair to Hindley, he was second in that 2020 race, so his win in 2022 had at least some previous form. Last Carapaz was a huge favourite with Almeida and maybe Simon Yates behind him. 2 of them didn’t finish the race but I wouldn’t say any giro field has been stacked by big GC contenders in recent years This year it has two genuine top class riders but the likes of Almeida, Vlasov, Carthy, Geoghegan Hart, Thomas (3rd in TDF last year) are all very, very good
  23. I know the criteria. Killips won't qualify. "Mickey mouse" means it can, and always is, won by club riders. A world away from dozen or so World Tour Pros the US have.
  24. Talent. not good enough. Tour of Gila is a mickey mouse race. Again, I'm not arguing with your theory. Just pointing out the levels here
  25. Not suggesting you're wrong to argue on the subject at hand here but Killips won't be near the US team for the Olympic or anywhere near a TDF team either so you needn't worry about that
