  1. I feel like I'm going crazy when I read these stories. Isn't it obvious and common sense that the point of the winter games is for things on snow and ice, looking at what is already on the programme and has been throughout history? It might be done in winter similarly to how we sometimes here describe rugby as a 'winter sport' but that's a whole different meaning to the phrase winter sport than the one we use for the Winter Olympics. I don't even think it needs explaining it's that obvious. It's all about a new part of the world to have a shot at something.
  2. Kitaguchi big favourite for javelin though surely, with regards Japan as was discussed a bit earlier.
  3. I understand you of course want a forum to be a positive place because nobody wants to sit and read people moaning and whining, and objectively the results overall are good in the grand scheme of things, but if you can't get why people are finding the past week frustrating then I don't know what to say. I'm not trying to be rude.
  4. It will be spun as a positive if they meet the medal target which they probably will, there's no expectation put on golds.
  5. That's just his running style, it always looks like he's pulling up with cramp
  6. So we turn up and beat the two big boys the Danes and the Italians and yet still not the fastest team because someone else turned up faster too, and it's the Australians of course...
  7. Of course it was, she's just saying what people want to hear, she's not going to say the team is bad on the BBC. Anyone following the sport knows that 8 is fanciful. The women's sprint side look incredible but the endurance are missing their best rider and the men's sprint as improved as they looked yesterday aren't going to be picking up a gold unless something weird happens in the Kierin.
  8. Any early signs that that Lotus have done a real serious job on the bikes?
  9. Since they've got to 12 golds we could have had about 7 and got none, but of course with Jess Fox out they still win.
  10. I meant in general, not GB medal wise. It's the end of the group stage in volleyball, basketball, handball, water polo that makes the schedule look small I think Edit: I'm an idiot, I had medal events only on the schedule.
  11. At the moment we can't seem to buy a gold so I don't want to even think about the prospect of beating either. If we had the dominant track cycling squad of old that could come here and bag 9 of 12 or whatever then maybe. I think the US might win the men's medley, their breaststroke and backstroke are much better than Aus, women's not sure. Aus will get a sailing probably, and will have athletics ambitions of their own. Kennedy, Little etc. Kennedy would mean we miss one of ours as well of course. Little beat Kitaguchi at the diamond league recently. Paterson and Olyslagers in the wings if Mahuchikh faulters. Are any of their sprint canoe boats the best? I have no idea. They have a boxer in the semis. Men's hockey look like they might be going out and women aren't favourites but could happen.
  12. I'm getting irritated in the most privileged of ways, I'd like someone to win soon.
  13. I didn't see the splits earlier but it looked to me like like Litchfield did a pretty good job. Guy however off the pace in the individual 100 Fly.
  14. Potentially a huge golden day and I didn't even consider the women's trampoline.
