  1. My personal list: Aaand Estonia, Luxembourg and Spain as honourable mentions, they're growing on me the more I hear them
  2. Did he have prior vocal training of was specifically scouted for this during a karaoke night?
  3. I'm chatting on Instagram with someone from the Lithuanian delegation, it's massive hysteria over there. I feel bad for Sweden and especially for the hosts, that will have to handle so many messes live. Microphones won't be muted fast enough and camera shots won't be panned out quick enough. Many alike will probably protest in some way and what the presenters will say during the jury votes could be unpredictable as well. They're already using cheering tracks during the Israeli performance, so that the boos are somewhat covered up, but tonight is going to be a massive tall on the showrunners that have been doing their absolute best to deliver for us. Sad how quickly we forget that it's supposed to be about music, where we can forget all the shit going down in the world for at least one night.
  4. Surprisingly, didn't help out Poland too much this time. Though, happy for Armenian qualification, it was a breath of fresh air in the second semi-final.
  5. Though I can only imagine that Bulgaria, Romania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia coming back all that once would most likely kill qualification chances for smaller countries like Luxembourg, San-Marino, Malta, Belgium, Denmark, likely even all of the Baltic countries, because of the Balkan block voting, which would be even more of a thing now without the juries in the semis. Although ironically it was those same juries that colluded some years ago
  6. Absolutely glad to not have Malta in the final this year, it was textbook case of "yeah, you can copy my homework, just change a few things" - Spain 2022 Slo Mo What also gave me the vibes that it was textbook plagiarism, was that it took 8 people to write that mess.
  7. Yup, 21 year old Mykolas Alekna just set a new WR in the Discus Throw Don't know how to feel about this, would've been more special in a different location probably
  8. Yeah, I don't know how other people rank and how they decide, but logically thinking, the disco music genre is one of those genres that are not known for huge variation, which is why many disco songs have a lot of things in common with each other. It's not insane to assume that if you liked Italy, you should have felt somewhat keen on Argentina as well. For me, personally, Argentina even had a bit more to offer in that regard. It would've been okay if Argentina scored like less than Italy, but not by a 110 point margin. I can only assume that if this song was sent let's say by the French jury and it was in French, we'd have at least 80-100 points :/ Although we have a long history of songs in Spanish doing well too, so yeah, it's impossible to explain what goes on in the voting processes of all of the juries
  9. Lol, this is actually insane how differently people perceive stuff At the start, I thought that I would not like that song then it drew me in on second 40.
  10. It's done and dusted now, congratulations to the winners and medalists. Thank you for voting for Eley, it's always nice to see that someone liked it with some medals as well. I had a really tough time deciding what to send, because Lithuanian music lately is just on a different level There's a lot that I wanted to show, but ultimately I decided that it would be fun to go with "Rock My Body". Me and my bff had a really good time working on this song together with Eglė (the vocalist). On Monday we're meeting in the studio to work on her newest song that I wrote a couple of weeks ago. It has some reaggeton and Spanish undertones, but perhaps the producer will decide to switch it up.
  11. Well, this is the sixth time that I score Mexico. I guess it's a pretty good indication that I don't play favourites or favour any country in particular and I try to recognise a good product in most genres. It's always a mix of vocals, melody, production and lyrics for me. And as I'm diving deeper and exploring the world of producing now too, I started paying even more attention to more miniscule details, like vocal effects, specific sounds of percussions, mix & master etc.
  12. I gave up on trying to logically understand anything here There are two disco songs in this edition. One is trying to win the contest, the other is on the second half of the table There was never any correlation in anything.
  13. Well, I remember the horns at the start didn't give me huge hopes, but the topline when the woman vocalist joins in, just carries this song to a different level and that's how it climbed up to 5th.
  14. I honestly never cared about the movie, but Billie Eilish is on my radar, amazing songwriter and performer
  15. In about 15 minutes I'm going to head out to the first ever Lithuanian TISC representatives - Saulės Kliošas new EP album concert. Their new music is really dope
  16. Truthfully, I thought this was going to be an easy W for the United States :DDDDDDD Colour me surprised
  17. Won't be able to post my votes tonight (for the first time ever, I think). Life's so chaotic right now, forgot that TISC was today
  18. Historically the longest period for voting we ever had, but people & scrambling towards deadlines is just a law of nature
  19. I did another listening, fairly messed up my rankings, but I'll just have to deal with that this time. One of the busiest TISC's for me this time around
  20. My top twelve looks so WILD right now Funnily enough, I don't think it will change much now even after two more listens.
  21. Nice to know it wasn't only me that felt rather blob-ish when listening to the selection I normally prefer the annual contest though, so this is a first for me, where I'm unimpressed by a huge percentage of entries.
  22. Ok, seems I'm probably extra brutal this year, since I'm very pressed with work, but only 15 songs made it through to the second round Top 3 seems pretty clear after the first listen too.
  23. Hopefully it won't be live on our national broadcaster... I've been blocked from watching international coverage nearly the entire season
  24. Norwegian women collapse might never be explained. I thought they would possibly struggle with Roeiseland and Eckhoff retiring, but their women looked really on form at the start of the season. Tandrevold also had a history of brilliant results in Nove Mesto, which lead me to blow valuable points on her in the prediction contest I don't know what happened to them here, but the French seemed very ready to capitalise on that.
