  1. Women's sabre Olympic ranking (8th place points given to the Top8 teams before the QFs) So Top8 teams can still gain a lot of points tomorrow. 1. 168 pts - World 1 (WCh Top8) 2. 146 pts - World 2 (WCh Top8) 3. 141 pts - World 3 (WCh Top8) 4. 141 pts - World 4 (WCh Top8) --- 5. 136 pts - Europe 6. 124 pts - Asia (WCh Top8) 7. 120 pts - World 5 (WCh Top8) 8. 116 pts 9. 114 pts 10. 108 pts (WCh Top8) 11. 104 pts 12. 101 pts (WCh Top8) 13. 100 pts - Africa 14. 95 pts 15. 86 pts 16. 77 pts 17. 75 pts ... 23. 56 pts
  2. Yes, they are for now. This is a big chance for them to solidify their Top4 place on the Olympic ranking. Meanwhile wins against in men's epee. Really important win for them. They keep their chances alive, hoping that France, Italy and Hungary will all be Top4 on the Olympic ranking.
  3. Huh, Italy only 10th in women's sabre. 9. 10. 11. 12. Really strange outcome for the European teams. Huge chance for tomorrow in the fight for the European quota. is 14th, they are coming for the African quota. But America flopped, there might not be a second American team in the Top16. The 16th place threshold can be close for to win the American quota. There will be a lot of drama here in the Olympic qualification...
  4. digging themselves deeper by losing against Belgium. The European quota is likely between Poland and Germany in men's foil.
  5. Okay, it looks like France and Italy are saving our ass in men's epee. Unless there's a major collapse at the end there, two v finals today.
  6. 50.14, same as Milák last year. Not as fast as peak Dressel and peak Milák in Tokyo, but they might never repeat those times.
  7. Igen, ezen a héten extra teljesítményt nyújtanak a legjobb sportolóink.
  8. takes a big step in men's foil thanks to their easy draw, they are in the Top8 while and gets eliminated in the R16.
  9. Yes. If Egypt gives up on the African quota, you will easily qualify. If they go for it, you will have to fight for the European quota against Germany.
  10. Our main hope in men's epee is that we will still be Top4 on the WR after the Worlds. And the same will apply to France and Italy. Which means the top three European teams will have a chance to turn this around in the last 4 World Cup events.
  11. 4th World title for us. Every time the WCh takes place in a year that has a 3 as the last digit, we win. 1973, 2003, 2013, 2023. Time to bet on us in 2033.
  12. We have to save the day by getting the 5th place in men's epee. And then hope that at least two out of will be in the Top4 on the Olympic ranking after all the World Cup events are done. We can be in deep shit if and win against and today.
  13. Disaster, upsets in men's epee.... we got one of the most talented team with two World Champions and this happens. Why do we have to make the qualification hard for ourselves?
  14. Women's foil team lost against the US, will play for the 5-8th places. Men's foil team will fence against Chile in the Round of 16, should be an easy win for Poland.
  15. wins against is beating is beating The fight for the quotas will be insane. It appears Kharlan doesn't need Bach's help, Ukraine will handle it their way.
  16. has to figure something out quick because the entire Ukrainian team is gaining points over them, not just Kharlan. +9 for and that's before Kharlan arrives on the piste for the second time.
  17. Looking at how the ranking is shaping up, there will be some heartbreak in women's sabre. can take a quota away from a top tier team, they probably will, as long as they try to win the quota. is destroying right now, has the advantage over , while is beating ... a lot of very important matches in the R16.
  18. Predictable one-sided matches in women's foil. Men's epee can be the complete opposite of that.
  19. Okay, disaster avoided, the girls beat Poland in women's sabre. We need one more very important win against Spain or Greece for the quota.
  20. Well, that's interesting, eliminated in men's foil. I am not sure if this changes anything in the fight for the American quota. I mean, is in the Top16, so maaaaybe they now get a chance to qualify? Probably not.
  21. is in the Top16 in women's sabre. If they can get one or two Top16 placement at the World Cup, I think they will qualify to the Games.
  22. All these new sports are being considered, while they want to drop legacy sports... Weightlifting is one of the most iconic Olympic sports, there must be a solution to save it. Like, I would even take the option to get rid of the weight classes and have only one men and one women competition (essentially only the highest weight class) instead of completely removing from the program. This isn't a sport that can exist outside of the Olympics, unlike boxing. Same for modern pentathlon. IOC must realize that they will literally kill MP if it's out of the program. There goes a sport with 100 years of history. There must be other solutions. Like only including new sports that will justify an increase in the budget. If it's such a net positive decision to include cricket, just increase the number of the athlete quotas. Those Indian broadcasting rights can pay for the increase in the budget.
  23. I see that finally found a way to host the UEFA Euros. By doing a joint bid with a top nation. EURO 2032 in & Doubt that anyone will contest that. All the other top European nations had or are getting other big events, EURO 2016 + SOG 2024 for France, EURO 2024 for Germany, EURO 2028 for England, World Cup 2030 for Spain.
  24. The draws are out for tomorrow, these are the potential matches in the Round of 16 Men's foil v || v v || v v || v v || v Women's sabre v || v v || v v || v v || v I think @phelpswon't be happy about meeting Ukraine in the R16 in women's sabre after what happened with Kharlan. That can be one nasty draw for Italy. We got Poland instead of Ukraine, the team that almost beat us 4 years ago in the R16, Pusztai saved us there with an insane run at the end.
  25. As for the handshake issue: it's beyond stupid for fencing to force athlete to shake hands. Even tennis, one of the most high class sports there is, allows players to not shake hands. FIE and the fencing community are full of themselves if they think that this is okay. And not just for the Ukraine-Russia situation. Don't ignore the human element of the sport, you can't force athletes to respect each other.
