  1. The Oceania quota has been awarded to in the men and in the women (based on the 2018 Oceania Championships) according to World Archery so only 7 men and 2-5 women quotas will be contested/
  2. No Oceania nation is competing in the women's 10km so the quota will be reallocated to the next highest ranked eligible athlete (same thing may apply for the men if Australia finishes in the top 9).
  3. Correct... "There must be a real competition meaning that if there are less member associations competing that there are places allocated the qualification status will be lost. To be explicit if there are less than five for the European Olympic Qualifier, less than four for the Pan-American Olympic Qualifier, less than two for the Oceania Olympic Qualifier. This criteria will overrule the calculated number below. " "In case the validity criteria cannot be met, then the result of the last held Continental Championships will be used. If these results are not allowing to fill in the places, they will be added to the individual places of the FQT." The last Oceania championship was in 2018 so the men's quota would go to Fiji and the women's quota would go to Australia. Of course, World Archery completely ignored its qualification rule when it denied Mongolia, the mixed team quota that North Korea released so I have no idea what they are going to do. Additionally, New Zealand just denied its men's quota and it should have gone to Fiji, but they have also confirmed it will go to the FIQT (so 4 men and 2 women quotas are currently available plus whatever extra comes from the team events).
  4. Sadly, a bunch of them disagree with your opinion.
  5. They really need to start giving ranking points in tennis again. Ideally, it should be a 1000 level tournament, but even a 500 level would probably stop the majority of withdrawals.
  6. At this rate, it's probably more like congrats Czech Republic
  7. Yeah, it's terrible that not only do you have to compete within your own event you have to compete against athletes in other events in order to qualify. We have a similar issue (though a lot smaller) in the kayak events in canoe sprint.
  8. Not sure, at the Polish Open Polanska and Kossakowska are listed as qualifying for the relays. Maybe one of them got injured? Poland also doesn't have a lot of individual qualifiers and since "relay only" athletes must have reached the OST in the event, maybe Poland was unable to make a proper team. Like they may have to use Laura Bernat as one of the 4x200m free members...
  9. Looks like Poland withdrew as well, Denmark is the replacement.
  10. There are still two empty quotas (both in women's trap)
  11. No they reallocated based on the missing quotas due to the returning of tripartite quotas, events which Japan qualified, continental qualifiers where no one got the MQS and North Korea's withdrawn quotas. It has nothing to do with keeping it gender balanced. The two extra women's trap quotas were allocated because there are no eligible nations remaining. Should Ireland withdraw in the men's trap, they will be eligible again in the women's trap (since they no longer have a quota) while the men's trap quota will go to Fiji or Luxembourg.
  12. Ireland could also exchange the quota for another event
  13. Everyone talks big until it's time for them to show up. If we do manage to qualify I imagine a couple more will have a change of heart and thus bump out those that actually did the qualifying.
  14. At least we snuck in to be eligible to compete in the mixed relay, that second women's quota came in at the last minute...
  15. Now the live results site is showing Canada won against the Netherlands, I'm confused...
  16. Quite a shame for Canada. I really hope karate returns to the Olympics, but that likely won't happen until the IOC loosens the tight control of athlete quotas (or if one of the 28 sports is removed)
  17. takes the last quota took the European quota (unless FINA wants to change the rules and reallocate the quota to the final qualifier in which case both are still qualified)
  18. Not sure what to think of Canada's chances in the round robin. We do like to finish fourth, but this is the last sport where we aren't guaranteed to qualify someone (we are guaranteed to qualify someone in golf, judo, tennis and triathlon via rankings) so it would be wonderful if one of them manages it.
  19. Wait, you can qualify 4 athletes even if one of them is via the continental quota? I thought if you need continental quotas the max you can get was three. That's good for Canada...
  20. Okay, I know a lot of people here don't like Agenda-2020, but it didn't cause COVID
  21. No, there's only four tripartite quotas (2 men and 2 women) across the eight events. They also need to be ranked in the top 50 in order to be eligible to compete. However, only 10 athletes will compete in each event.
  22. I don't think appearing in the 2021 World was a requirement so I think Australia should get the 2019 Worlds quota...
