  1. Crazy slow-quick-slow tactics continue.
  2. Everyone gifting the main race to Chabbey. Wonder if they’ve just forgotten about her.
  3. AvV waits for the steepest part of the course to do her bike change.
  4. Agree. 20 secs down, two laps to go & four hard climbs per lap.
  5. Sidney McLaughlin another no-show in both Buda & Pest.
  6. Also teen phenom Josh “Sam” Tarling just took bronze, which should guarantee S4C coverage of the TdF for the next fifteen years or so.
  7. Problem is I bet that her road contract does not permit more than a few MB races per year.
  8. Yeah. Road guys would not be able to even turn some of those insane gears in the kilo start. I guess the stats obsessed can get a comparison from the old original 6 discipline Omnium when endurance riders had to do a 200m flying lap.
  9. Road guy would win every time. Track sprinters are 200m max, sometimes not even that.
  10. Track sprinters & road sprinters are like comparing Usain Bolt with Mo Farah. Farah could run 9600m then sprint for 400m. But Bolt was always the fastest. In the past 20 years I can think of only one guy - Theo Bos - who had a career as a road sprinter after being a track sprinter. Viviani & Cavendish always do endurance on the track.
  11. Ie the same jury who do everything, not specifically Scottish. But I agree they have been slack, compared to the London 2012 especially.
  12. That’s the normal scheduling on the circuit though - it was only because of all the para races they had to change the men’s
  13. In the last sprint of the Madison triple-mugged by & : go from challenging for Gold to the Gold in a split-second.
  14. For those of us whose thirst for para-cycling remains unslaked.
  15. Just catching up - it has been a comedy of errors with falls, mechanicals & shocking loss of form. No horses on the road, though.
  16. Comfortably beating , for the first time since….Moscow 1980. Also finished as the top Slov* nation.
  17. Yeah, but quite a few medals, even golds, won by other nations as well so people were travelling to do it.
  18. Let’s just have a peep at the Official Medals Table, shall we? Seems the Gran Fondo is an innovation which must continue. https://www.uci.org/event-hub/2023-uci-cycling-world-championships/6WHHqfuGeCiM5MZXd8a6sZ?tab=medals3
  19. Bit surprised that Were so passive there
  20. Once again, shows simplest is best when it comes to anti-Vampire precautions. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12381177/Vampire-child-corpse-discovered-Polish-cemetery-triangular-padlock-attached-ankles-prevent-returning-dead.html
  21. Was looking back at the history of the Olympic Road Race on Wikipedia - had an idea that pre 1992 it was usually won by the "amateur" riders of Communist Europe, in the way that football etc usually was. Turns out this wasn't true, and that actually some fairly well-known people won, presumably then going onto pro careers. However, here's what happened at Munich 1972 "Irish protesters Seven members of the National Cycling Association (NCA) were arrested for disrupting the event. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) recognised separate national federations on either side of the Irish political border. The NCA was an Irish Republican all-Ireland body not affiliated to the ICU. Three NCA members delayed the start by distributing leaflets,[4] and the other four joined mid-race to ambush Irish competitor Noel Teggart, causing a minor pile-up.[5]" So there's previous for idiot protestors from Celtic nations!
  22. Yeah, there was a big revision during the last 10 laps, Portuguese guy went from 220+ to 180 or so.
  23. But they must have generous funding behind them. The last Winter Games were supposed to be in Lucerne, but they got them rearranged to Lake Placid at short notice, which doesn’t come cheap.
  24. It’s a bit of a mystery, but they seem to have lots of money from somewhere.
