  1. Some of the French language articles I’ve read indicated that they used the hand timmed results for the Swiss athletes. Apparently they hand-time the races as a quality control measure and as a last resort backup.
  2. I feel really bad for the Karate and Softball athletes, but IMO Climbing, Skateboarding and Surfing were the clear top three choice to retain from 2020. They are all extremely unique compared to the current offering of summer sports, cheap to host and have a lot of potential to grow the audience. The winter Olympics have benefited greatly from the addition of non-traditional events like half-pipe, snowboardcross/skicross, slopestyle and big air precisely because it appeals beyond the “core audience” while still clearly being sports that bellong in an event like the Olympics, and I can see climbing, skateboarding and surfing fulfiling a similar role. No idea what to make of breakdancing, seems like an odd sport. But I actually think it makes more sense than some of the events the IOC has added recently (*cough* 3x3 Basketball *cough*). Squash not being added *again* is a joke.
  3. Replace breakdancing by squash and I’m very happy. Not surprised to see climbing, surfing and skateboarding are favourites to survive, I think all three are extremely likely to be included in LA too.
  4. Something similar also happened during training ahead of the Sochi Olympics, where a track worker was hit by a bobsleigh that was going at 80 km/h. The track worker got compound fractures to both his legs and a concussion. The Monaco sleight was going at 122 km/h when it nearly hit the track worker...
  5. This might be the only time I’m disapointed to see Canada win a bobsleigh race. Shockingly it’s the first time Canada has won a four man race in Lake Placid.
  6. A track worker almost got hit by the Monaco sleed. That was so so close to disaster...
  7. It’s kind of a random collection of venues, but it’s also a ton of classic venues. Bormio and Cortina for Alpine Skiing and Biathlon in Antholz would be big treats in particular.
  8. Not sure if you saw but the FIS live result system briefly used the Republic of China’s flag for athletes from the People's Republic of China earlier this year.
  9. Glad to see the combined get a stay of execution. There is apprently consideration of permanently changing the order, with slalom first followed by downhill.
  10. Glad to see this event finally being taken seriously
  11. Snowboard slopestyle finals canceled due to weather. Bleh. What a lame championships for the big air and slopestyle events. Final results are based on qualification. Men: 1. Chris Corning (93.25, Heat 2) 2. Mark McMorris (93.00, Heat 1) 3. Judd Henkes (90.50, Heat 2) Women: 1. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (91.75) 2. Silje Norendal (88.75) 3. Jamie Anderson (87.25)
  12. Happy to see Kingsbury be world champion in moguls again, ending his long (by his standard) dry spell. Dual Moguls tomorow is going to be quite a show. Deer Valley has the best moguls course in the world, truly nowhere better to crown a world champion.
  13. Who exactly is better on the men’s side? Hirano? Kim is obviously the best on the women’s side and it isn’t close.
  14. The best men’s and women’s half-pipe snowboarder both showed up to worlds and won? This has to he a first.
  15. If this is the last combined at worlds it’s a sad way for this great event to end (because of the downhill course, not the results).
  16. Massive upset in Team Aerials. Switzerland, the last seed, won gold against all expectations. China won silver and Russia won bronze.
  17. Qualified for the men’s ski half-pipe final: David Wise (92.0) Simon D’Artois (91.8) Aaron Blunt (91.6) Alex Ferreira (91.4) Kevin Rolland (91.2) Birk Ruud (89.6) Nico Porteous (87.0) Noah Bowman (86.4) Taylor Seaton (85.2) Thomas Krief (84.6) Participating in the mixed aerials team event: Carol Bouvard / Nicolas Gugax / Noë Roth Catrine Lavallee / Miha Fontaine / Felix Cormier-Boucher Liubov Nikitina / Stanislav Nikitin / Maxim Burov Aknarkhan Kalmurzayeva / Zhanbota Aldabergenova / Balgan Inkarbek Ashley Caldwell / Christopher Lillis / Jonathon Lillis Aliaksandra Ramanouskaya / Dzmitry Mazurkevich / Maxim Gustik Brittany George / Laura Peel / David Morris Xu Mengtao / Sun Jiaxu / Wang Xindi
  18. Qualified for the women’s ski half-pipe final: Cassie Sharpe (93.2) Kelly Sildaru (92.0) Brita Sigourney (90.2) Rachael Karker (89.6) Zhang Kexin (80.4) Li Fanghui (79.6) Maddie Bowman (77.0) Elisabeth Gram (73.6)
  19. Three canceled events, this is a little bit of a disaster :/
  20. I don’t blame him. Not only was it not prticularely safe but it was also basically a lottery.
  21. This men’s ski slopestyle final is sad. The conditions are terrible and the skiers are barely able to just make it down the course.
  22. Hofmeister winning bronze with the “crash every race” strategy xD
  23. There is literally nothing “more important” until 2021...
  24. This was a much better event back when they did two runs...
  25. Why are we even comparing White and Ledeská? Freestyle and alpine snowboarding are almost different sports now, there is no overlap between the athletes. ...and come on, Red Gerard isn’t even one of the one of the biggest star of slopestyle snowboarding, let alone snowboarding in general. He was a big media star in the US during the Olympics but that was about it.
