  1. My ideal schedule (there is a 99% chance it won't end up like this lol): Day -2 Arrive (hopefully find a place in Carson area) Day -1 Rugby morning session Rugby again or hockey in the evening Day 0 Sightsee/day off Day 1 Beach Volleyball morning session Handball evening session Day 2 Diving morning session Find something in downtown LA for evening (Gymnastics, Badminton, Boxing, Fencing or Judo) Day 3 Table tennis morning session Athletics evening session Day 4 Leave This would be my ideal plan, but I highly doubt it will end up like this. Just wanted to play around with the Olympic schedule and see what I could realistically pull off.
  2. Yes. This was the best WOG since at least Sochi 2014. I only started paying attention to the Olympics after London 2012, so small sample size. But, this was the best WOG I can remember. European fans and atmosphere make everything better in my opinion.
  3. Yeah transportation from venue to venue is my biggest concern. Hoping to stay in the Carson area. Seems to be between all the venues. Organizers have said there will be no parking, so renting a car will make no sense. I know they a planning a car free Olympics, so I expect an increase in public transportation.
  4. Yeah event by event prices will be in April when the ticket purchasing slots occur. Only prices we know is that is starts at $28. Just praying they aren't as insane as the FIFA world cup prices.
  5. Yeah I get the vibe that it will be a split ceremony between Sofi and the Coliseum. Maybe something small in OKC for the athletes there as well. I doubt you'll get everything in one place. Maybe they'll have the full parade of athletes at either Sofi or the Coliseum. Not 100% sure how it's going to work, but it will be split in some capacity.
  6. I'll skip the ceremonies. Don't think it's worth the price, but that's my opinion. Plus, with it being in two locations + OKC, the tv coverage will probably be better than the in-person experience. Milan seemed awkward for the crowd that was there because there was stuff going on in four different locations.
  7. Yeah hard to plan two years in advance. But, just trying to narrow down what sports and venues I want to see. Tickets seem to be reasonable (they start at $28). But, who knows what percentage of tickets will actually be $28. I imagine gymnastics and basketball will be among the more expensive tickets, so I may stick to the more obscure sports like table tennis. The problem with volleyball is that it is in Anaheim, which is far from the other venues. Would to go to volleyball, but would have to figure out transportation.
  8. A few sports and venues that are at the top of my list: - Athletics (would love to go see the LA Coliseum) - Beach Volleyball (always looks like the most fun sport at any Olympics) - Table Tennis (personal favorite of mine) - Diving or Soccer in Pasadena (love the picturesque mountains in that area of LA)
  9. I'm thinking about going to LA28. I want to make a place where we can discuss some of our plans so we can share ideas for ticketing, accommodations, travel, etc. I want to start with this question: Which venues/events/sports do you think are must see for LA28? If anyone has been to a summer Olympics before and wants to chime in based on past experiences, that would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Another member from Michigan (I assume?)
  11. WBC starts in less than two weeks!
  12. Yeah they can get rid of the sprint. Too short. The mixed relay was fun and there was some changes in the leaderboard. Happy with our result in 4th especially considering Gibson is pretty new to the sport. I'm fine if they keep this sport, but get rid of the sprint. Races should be 30 min or longer.
  13. You would be insane to try out skeleton. If I'm trying a sliding sport, I'd sit in the back of the 4-man bobsled and black out. Somebody can wake me up when we make it down the track lol Not a great games for our skeleton team, but I didn't really have any high expectations.
  14. The format of the aerials events make for some unpredictable results, especially in the finals. Happy to see us win the mixed event again. Moguls is awesome. Dual moguls is even better (hopefully they keep duals). Really happy with our results in the women's moguls events. Good results in the men's halfpipe, big air and slopestyle as well.
  15. I hope they keep Nordic Combined. Add women's events as well. Happy with our performance in the team event.
  16. When Stoddard didn't fall, she ended up on the podium! Is that 100% podium success when not falling lol? Overall, a bit disappointing, but short track is so unpredictable. It's hard to set expectations in short track.
  17. Yeah, men's team needs some big improvements. RCS always shows up at the Olympics though! It was so cool to see Vonn out there skiing. What a moment for her just to be in that start gate. Really unfortunate what happened during the run. I just hope she gets healed up and she can live a normal life. Shiffrin's win in the slalom was very emotional. The ups and downs she's been through and getting back on top of the podium in the slalom was so cool to see. There was just something poetic about it. Breezy's runs in the DH and the team event were awesome. Some good runs by our other women. Great games for the women and RCS!
  18. Yeah not a bad Olympics for luge. Great showing by Ashley to win bronze. Hopefully the men can improve for 2030. The men's doubles team being first after run 1 was a nice surprise.
  19. Ollie Martin was a breakout star for me. Didn't win a medal, but he is legit. Japan is really starting to dominate this sport, like you mentioned. The men's snowboard halfpipe was one of my favorite events of these Olympics. The progression in that event, the amplitude on each hit, just a spectacle to watch.
  20. Our country needed those wins. Both of them. Such a storybook ending, especially for the men. - Avenging the OT losses from 2010 and last year - Winning gold for Johnny Gaudreau - Winning probably the most talented hockey game ever seen Both gold medal games will be some of the best memories coming out of these Olympics.
  21. 2 golds and a silver is pretty good. Obviously, Ilia was disappointing in the free skate, but it is what it is. He'll bounce back and be even better in 2030. Alysa Liu was the breakout star in America for these Olympics. Love her attitude and her skating. Still think Chock & Bates deserved gold. Regardless, great Olympics for them.
  22. Yeah, love the Bergsma mullet lol Great Olympics for Stolz. Sweep is a hard ask, but top four in all four events is great!
  23. Definitely some results to build on. The addition of Wright to USA is so huge. Hopefully he can get better and find a podium in 2030.
  24. Have fun! Why do they have the national championships so quickly after the Olympics? Very happy with our curling performances. Wish the women's team ended with a medal, but they overperformed my expectations. Same with the men's team. Was good for them to gain some Olympic experience. Cory/Korey were awesome. Wanted them to win gold, but silver is still an incredible result.
  25. Yup. Definitely feel like we've improved. Maybe the partnership with Norway has helped? Looking forward to seeing how we do in 2030.
