  1. I also remember one of the first matches they did (or at least was still in 2010) after becoming world champions, with Portugal, where they lost 0-4 and Ronaldo score his greatest disallowed goal of his career (disallowed thanks to a dumb Nani haha)
  2. We’re on our way to have the most epic quarter finals ever. let’s see if Spain and Portugal don’t screw this up, although if there was a time for a “surprise winner” in this last 16 matches, I would say these are the ones with more change for that to happen (Switzerland is good and Morocco is on fire with motivation)
  3. Fun picture: this was Paulo Bento in 2002 playing in that infamous match with Korea where Portugal got eliminated (plus a bunch of players started fighting, one of them even punching the referee )
  4. That's normal, ESPN FC page is a total messi fan club so i would expect them to jinx their biggest rivals Brasil haha
  5. if i would be the koreans i would just leave and go to the hotel. It's the best option at this point i think.
  6. true story, just check his records in Sporting haha
  7. There are many (many!) who moved to Portugal and are not anything like that. In fact, brazilian immigrants are, as equal as ukranians, known as "the good immigrants" (ugly i know, but it's how they are seen) as they integrate very well, are nice neighbours/workers, and usually are just nice people who came just looking for a better life. What i think is being described is a bunch of bolsonarists who also migrate thinking Portugal is a paradise people who think like them, when they actually forget our nation is governed by a socialist government haha Moving to Portugal I would only consider if to work full remote, as it is the case of many americans and other foreigns who can keep their good foreign salaries but living in the cheap Portugal. My type of job allows that (some friends of mine did it), but again, there are still things there that annoy me more compared to the things i like in the netherlands
  8. This is going to be a nightmare for Koreans. Good thing they're probably sleeping there now
  9. He was actually very loved here. Mocked a lot yes, because he was portuguese but spoke with brazilian accent, but some years ago he participated in a "mocking reality show" called "Ultimo a Sair" (a fake pre-recorded reality show that made fun on big brother but behave like if it were a real reality show), and he got praised and admired a lot because of how he accepted to make fun of himself, and also of religion, as his character was very religious (as he was). I actually think he "won" the show if i'm not wrong. Unfortunately he passed away 3 years ago. P.S - This is a bit of that Ultimo a Sair show, mocking the presentation part of the reality show participants haha
  10. because of ronaldo, because of how boring the team can be most of the times, or because of Roberto Leal?
  11. is it? then i guess brasil (due to Neymar) and Portugal (due to Ronaldo, if he keeps playing) will be the finalists? (everyone hates them now haha)
  12. Did all the teams you support end up getting eliminated? Don't support Portugal please.
  13. Fun fact: last time Portugal ever won a match in a World Cup last 16 eliminatory was in 2006 on the famous battle of Nuremberg against the Netherlands
  14. I say this with the best of love! Hehe
  15. I like good football so it's not difficult to be able to appreciate Messi and Argentina and still cheer for Portugal or Ronaldo (although the last one has become less likely, would prefer him to enjoy retirement now) P.S - Going back is probably gonna happen for retirement only. There are still too many things i like better in this cold and tasteless orange country compared to the things i still dislike in Portugal
  16. Messi is incredible. I really hope we can see an Argentina vs Brasil, those teams are unstoppable this world cup when they play their best.
  17. Also, the “is gonna be equivalent” was meant to compare the fact that Portuguese are a big immigrant community in Switzerland , just like Moroccan are a big community in Belgium. definitely not equivalent on the destruction that happened afterwards
  18. 1) nope. Don’t even remember of any situation where that happened, even on Luxembourg where we’re the biggest minority there (I think) there is a good notion of “I know I’m Portuguese, but I’m here to integrate” 2) they are certainly Portuguese “fanatics”, but screaming at the tv in the local Portuguese club is the most you will get from it. Or, if they win, they can go around in their car with a flag , but no more than that 3)Definitely not.
  19. btw this is mostly me with Greece btw, still not recovered from the trauma of 2004 haha
  20. Portugal vs Switzerland is gonna be an equivalent to Morocco vs Belgium haha (there are a lot of Portuguese immigrants in Switzerland)
  21. If you ask “did Portugal played with the best team”, the answer is no, because mainly of some yellow card players and also to give opportunity to other good players. if you ask if Portugal played for win, o think they did. But as in many other times, they play in lazy and overconfident way just because they are qualified and are against a weaker team. I’ve seen this other times before, come to my mind one euro where they lost the third match of the group phase with Switzerland also in a shitty way after winning the first two matches, or the draw against Liechtenstein many years ago. I hate it when they play like this, they deserve (and deserved today) to loose.
