  1. @catgamer Fun fact: the German song from this years contest is part of the annual Top 2000 made in the Netherlands (a Christmas tradition in NL, people vote on a bunch of songs and the Top 2000 are played from 2000 to 1 since 25 December until midnight of 31st December in the radio). It got placed at 237 position (in 2000), so not bad! P.S - The number one this year (as it is almost every year) was Bohemian Rapsodhy. Here’s the first 10 from this year’s contest:
  2. I think everyone understood that was the meaning of mbappe. And even today it makes sense I mean for two times Argentina was winning 2-0 and instead of playing it in a defensive way they kept attacking and ended up suffering 2 goals. I believe if it would be an European team they would park the bus the moment they would reach 2-0 in a final match with a team like France
  3. Here’s a joke from a Portuguese who still loves Ronaldo as the best but who enjoys good football and funny memes hehe
  4. I still find it a bit of “small team” style to celebrate the defeat of others instead of the winning (specially being the most important trophy of football), but again, if you win such a trophy (and specially if you normally play in clubs that don’t win nothing) you are allowed to celebrate the way you like, no matter how jerk can it look. Those guys should get some kind of statues for bringing so much happiness to that many people
  5. meh let him be jerk at will, he plays for Aston Villa this is the only time he gets to celebrate things. Plus I actually think there’s a love story behind this, only explanation for such obsession with Mbappe hehe
  6. This make sense, those guys were supporting every team since the beginning haha
  7. So after so many years, and after the miracle of 2016 Euro Championship, our coach, Mr Engineer (or “the engineer of draws” as we call him) is leaving Portuguese national team. Mourinho is now the one who’s the favorite to succeed him. Meanwhile, as the info spread around the country, this is how Portuguese reached on Fernando Santos departure
  8. Mbappe, what a football player, so said he’s stuck in the French league he’s amazing
  9. All this amazing tournament gets sadder when you think this is the last time you’re seeing the greatest football players from the past 15 years or so at their last time in a World Cup
  10. There is no quota in pt obviously, and I remember when the first black players started to appear in the national team, I think in early 2000s, many people got racist about it, as in “what is this team? Angola or Cape Verde?” which I always found ironic because before Ronaldo our most iconic football player is someone black that was not even from Portugal (Eusebio, from Mozambique, which was Portuguese at that time but let’s be real, it was a colony), and people loved (and love) him like a god (he’s buried in our “heroes temple” in Lisbon together with kings and navigators). I think this is also because although we have a big black community, they’re concentrated in suburbs of Lisbon alone mostly (in my home town actually) so the rest of the country still finds it difficult to see it as normal. but I have to recognize that nowadays is much better, there are still those racism dudes , but less than before, I think.
  11. As Portuguese who is aware of the reason why there are so many black people in Brasil , I’m gonna slowly get out of the conversation
  12. This. I am very much used to it now and find it actually useful but using the famous "dutch directness" in Latin/Southern European countries is not recommended haha
  13. Don’t say this to a Dutch. They are now stocking in fireworks so in 31st December all cities are bombarded to what looks like hell on earth . Dont believe me? Check this.
  14. You don’t know him, but the guy who interviews him is the most annoying Portuguese sport reporter ever, no one can stand him and no one understands how he has his profession for so many years (I don’t know, 20 years maybe?). today before the match he just goes and say something like “let’s do like our first king did and kick out the moors” (Portugal, when it became independent from Spain, conquered our current territory from North African - moorish - people ) This is something I expect to hear in a football bar from some drunk/unhappy supporter, not from a reporter on national tv….
  15. That is sad. Knowing how ambitious he is and having the reality slap on your face that your dream is definitely gone forever… hard to swallow that pill
  16. Good thing from this is that I’m pretty sure it will end Fernando Santos era in Portugal, which might come together with Ronaldo’s as well. We have a new generation but always behind Ronaldo’s light, so it’s now time for these new guys to form a total new team.
  17. It’s over then. I’m not sure now who to cheer as all times I liked got eliminated and there’s no team left I dislike (maybe england, but just because of the coming home thing)
  18. Entering in the second half might happen yes. Scoring, not anymore at his age
  19. Precisely this. Portugal never was the team to play good when they start loosing, specially if not playing with crowd support. also this goal reminded me of the Greek goal in euro 2004 final
  20. Why so much hate for someone that is not even playing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  21. Terrible first half, really boring, until the gk mistake which I think will now make the second half more interesting. still don’t have much hopes, Morocco is playing basically at home and they’re having very good defensive, really hard to find spaces. quire curious until where can this Morocco team go in this World Cup
  22. Yeah I’m not having much luck in these quarter finals haha, next I better cheer for England instead
