    Also, regarding the Jews expulsion: by that time the Portuguese kings did whatever the Spanish kings did so they ended up expelling the Jews as well. you where many of them went to? The Netherlands! That’s one of the reasons that if you go to Amsterdam you’ll see a huge synagogue called “Portuguese synagogue”

    Galician Portuguese is the parent of the twin sister languages, Galician and Portuguese. the difference is that Portuguese managed to evolve in its own (due to be independent) while Galician not that much due to be stuck in Spain and therefore to Castilian language :-)

    Curious on what can sporting do against Juventus. this is not our typical Juventus but then again Sporting can be very inconsistent going from super team to weakest link in just one week.

    I was a big fan of cadena dial (don’t judge me haha, but they were the ones that always were passing Spanish music and this was in a pre-youtube era and at that time it was the only way to listen to Spanish songs when traveling through Spain ) so that sentence is really stuck in my brain forever xD

    Those three… so many good memories of catalunya! But also pa i tomaquet was very popular I remember. And the parents of one of my friends used to make fideua but with meat instead of seafood…. delicious!!

    I imagine is even more weird to Galicia no? They are literally in the same latitude as Portugal and yet one hour ahead of us

    Benfica is super strong this year, I think they will be able to reach the final, especially if on the semi final they play the second leg at home as well. The atmosphere in their stadium it’s like hell to the adversaries (and I’m not even a Benfica fan)

    I think this was a big hit at that time, but probably is something for kids who grew up in the 90s (in spain, no one knows about fruittis in Portugal haha)

Or maybe I’m too old haha, I grew up with those cartoons (by that time I had family living in madrid and spent lots of time there) so everytime I see Gazpacho i think of this song!

    Indeed. The father is probably one of the most famous singers in the country, and he was with so much grief he just initially gave up on everything of life, but in the end got helped by the rest of the family and decided to join the song as well. I do wonder, is this the first time someone that is not alive anymore takes part on the annual contest?

    It’s even “worse”, it’s her two brothers AND her father (Context: they’re singing “with” her because she died in an car accident some years ago and left this unfinished song/videoclip)

    La manga is awesome, I have so many good memories from that place from when I was teenager! also, fun fact, do you know we have our Tocino del cielo, called… Toucinho do céu? It has different versions but is traditional from most of regions of Portugal

    Man this stuff is incredibly useful, in June I’m gonna go on a vuelta around all regions so this sights and food hints are like gold to me! great work!

    To me it always seemed kind of as if Portugal were the Spanish little brother haha and I never forget the Spanish newspaper cover when Portugal won the Euro ❤️ (of course it was also due to Ronaldo and the newspaper is a madrid one, but still) btw, that first sentence on the top of the cover has a totally different meaning in Portuguese 😅 (don’t look it up on Google during your work time! Haha)

    This doesn’t apply to me though, spent too much time in Spain to have such feeling and I’ve always loved the country and the language (even after some years of independentism brainwash in Catalunya hehe)

    By the way, fun fact, which is only a fact based on the Spanish people I’ve met so far (so our host might confirm or deny it ), but the rivalry between Portugal and Spain is much more from Portuguese to Spanish than the other way around (at least is the feeling I have, there’s a lot of “hate” from Portuguese agains Spain and I don’t see the same from Spanish to Portugal )

    I can live with that, Murcia (the region) has nice beach areas, at least I have good memories from that many years ago hehe (in La Manga) 😃

    Can I share a song from a participating country in the festival of music? It's a really nice dutch song from last year hitting the top of the charts there for a lot of weeks!
