Popovici swam faster here than at U23 Euros, so hopefully he does the same in 100 free too. He'll definitely need it considering that both Pan and Chalmers are in form looking at their relay splits.

New PB for David Popovici in 100m free at U23 Euros - 46.71. He now holds the best times of the season in both 100 and 200 free and looks to be vying for his second 100-200 free double Worlds Gold in Singapore.

Denis Popescu also won Gold in 100m fly in a National Record (51,48s).

Popovici won gold in 200m free in 1:43:64, best time of the year and his 4th time under 1:44. Clearly still the man to beat in 200 free at Worlds. Potentially another 46 in 100m free from him incoming 2 days later.

I think Bierdamann's 200 free is his last world record standing, hopefully Popovici gets it soon (unfortunately he had to retire today from Romanian Nationals after a promising 47.30 in the prelims cause of back pains).

David Popovici set a personal and national best of 21.83 in 50m freestyle at the Romanian National Championship, becoming the first man in history under 22, 47 and 1:43 . He'll probably be aiming for the 50-100-200m freestyle triple in LA.
