  1. Nah, they'll be in the same pot for the draw of the playoff paths.

  3. They've likely hidden other big names' bans in the past. It looks like this is the way things go when the money involved become too much.
  4. Tennis is basically like an American sports league in regard to doping issues, sanctions are a joke and/or kept hidden.
  5. IMO the Italian federation was right in not giving to that financial and political blackmail - had they accepted it, plenty of more established athletes in snow sports could have asked for more under the threat of changing nationality. It's not like they had a sports almanac from the future saying that that 15yo girl would have won 5 olympic gold medals and 5 overall world cups.
  6. Nonsense. Chamizo moved to Italy, married an Italian, he's still here after many years and was essentially banned from competing for Cuba. Colturi's tie to Albania is that the Albanian federation had invested a ton of money in her mother's business (élite and very costly academy for young skiers), and then gave her a role, and probably another big salary, as a director in exchange for the pomise of their first winter Olympic medal. A better comparison is to that archer who competed for Ivory Coast because her father had a big clothing business in the country.
  7. Because they want to be able to say they they respected the official athlete quota of (whatever the number is). Same reason for not counting alternates that will surely partecipate, it's not a practical matter but a political one.
  8. Wtf, did he randomly drop 12 seconds from his best?
  9. Tickets price and some more info: https://milanocortina2026.olympics.com/en/news/milano-cortina-2026-ticket-prices-revealed
  10. To pass that pin, they could have done a hug. I think the whole scene seems made to arrive to the kiss (why is Gil-galad there but is not involved in treating? He should be the one to decide after all), so to cater to the romantic part of the audience (again, soap opera style) and to get negative reactions from who knows that it'd be sacrilege in this world. As for the orcs, same as everything else - they want to add something revolutionary in that world but then immediately inconsistent. One scene orcs want to be loved, the next one savagely licking blood from knives (copied from LotR of course), then back to wanting love. It's like they didn't read the script they wrote.
  11. I think it has the writing of a soap opera, plotlines does not make sense, characters have an average IQ near zero, full of internal inconsistencies, without any sense of scale, space and time. "Dinner time TV" that is more enjoyed watching it in the background, but with a wasted huge budget - some good showrunners could have made it a least on a Game of Thrones level series. The "Inside of episode" stuff is really comical when the showrunners and directors speak. Sadly it's the only "Middle-earth" series as of now. Ah, I forgot: every few minutes there are callbacks to the movies + quotes straight up ripped from them but placed at random, like a sit-com.
  12. Next step: no more surnames but S-girls and S-boys + nickname.
  13. But what's up with this drunk fans thing, is ice hockey like rugby? Do the Dutch speed skating fans at the Olympics also get drunk usually?
  14. Salvatore "Totò" Schillaci, top scorer and best player of the 1990 FIFA World Cup, died at 59 years old - cancer.
  15. Nutella without cocoa? There are tens of brands of the same thing...
  16. Bad weather today, everything postponed to tomorrow.
  17. Does anyone from countries where the Paralympics are shown on free-to-air TV know or know where to find the audience share for these first 5 days?
  18. are the quarterfinalists - don't know the table, I only know that Italy will face the USA which I guess is the only thing you want to avoid here until the final.
  19. Did the Indian team disappear or retire? Now group G only has 3 teams.

  21. Cross country running does not add anything to the Games, it'd be a repeat of the 10k. With basically the same athletes having a shot every 2 years instead of 4. Then they should add short course swimming as well.
  22. The post really seems like announcing that he has signed a contract with a new club one week after the end of a season
  23. "Sportswriter" Jonathan Liew's contribution to the thread: let's cut sailing, archery, surfing, rowing, equestrian, golf, 3x3 basketball, men's football, volleyball and not-freestyle-swimming. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/aug/12/paris-olympic-games-la-2028-sports-sailing-golf
  24. 3) football and I think Gaba in judo. Which maybe would have meant no gold in team event as well. 4) for sure USA, CHN, then FRA, GBR, ITA between the third and the fifth position since they are the only ones that won a gold in 10 or more sports.
