  1. Great, maybe we can vulture a medal at Junior Worlds
  2. Long interview with Lasitskene on her(lack of) messages with ukrainian athletes, why she won't change flags, the letter to Bach and her fight against the federation and sports minister. It's a good read. I think she has a point on the hipocrisy of the ban when tennis players (Wimbledon aside) are playing like nothing happened. But I guess nothing will change in the near future. https://t.co/9ZG4XjtbZ4
  3. Those are the same exact times that for this year, right? I think we had only one swimmer with an A mark in Budapest, maybe we can add another one in 2023 I'm waiting for the entries of the World Junior Championships. With no Russia, and USA, Australia and more focusing on Junior Pan Pacs maybe we can do something there.
  4. Russian Nationals this week, Sidorova won in 4,91m (WL by 6cm) and Lasitskene jumped 2m. Both cried a lot as well
  5. So after Commonwealth Games the big question moving forward is which events will Summer McIntosh focus on for Paris? The 400 IM, 200 FL and 400 FR are locks. The 200 IM also fits the schedule quite well. Then the 200 FR conflicts with the 400 IM, but she could be a top3 contender in that one by Paris. And you could even make a case for the 800 FR against the 200 IM (not likely, though). Plus relays! Crazy talent, from a versatility point the biggest since Phelps probably.
  6. Popovici is swimming the 400FR here, interesting to see what he can put.
  7. She made a podium in a World Cup stage last year in U23 I think. I remember she had a bad accident in a race, but could be mixing her with another name.
  8. What do you mean by action? I have seen more action in some relays than in most sports. Swimming is just like any other sport, with the advantage that it's easy to follow (I mean, even if there are technical rules, it's all about who touches the wall first) and is a skill that everyone has tried in their life so it's easy to connect. Just like athletics, gymnastics, cycling, etc. To stay on topic, highlight of the day is McIntosh PB, but also Titmus slower than expected and O'Callaghan faster than Worlds. The 400 FR could be interesting.
  9. Andrei Minakov couldn't swim in the World Championships, but he is swimming this week... in the US Nationals
  10. Well, to be honest, the most likely scenario is that both Titmus and McIntosh beat her and she fails to podium in the 200. It's two years away, but she will probably have more to lose than to win if she swims the 200. Even without the doubles that is a tough schedule to try, mostly at 27yo. The 400IM and 200 FR I agree, but the 400 FR and 400 IM on the same day was worse IMO.
  11. The new 9 day schedule for Paris cleares some tough doubles: Men's 400 IM and FR, 200 BK and 200 IM, women's 200 and 1500 FR for example. Good news for Ledecky, she could do a full schedule without doubles. Bad news for McKeown, she'll have to drop for sure the 400 IM as it conflicts with the 100 BK. And McIntosh the 200 FR as it is in the same day of the 400 IM. Also Michael Andrew could have a triple with the 50 FR, 100 BL and 200 IM. He would die if he tries that probably.
  12. Expected result, but dissapointing performance. The team has players to attack a bit more, 5 subs and Ippolito didn't play a minute. It was like the 2019 WC again, but against lesser competition. Now another final to qualify for the WC.
  13. Interesting final, I like both players but rooting for Ons as it would be a better story for the sport. Rybakina has been the most consistent throughout the tournament, but let's see who holds her nerves better.
  14. Michele Jenneke still competing? Good to know. Seems forever since she went viral with her dance. Btw, Mcdermott is a better surname than Olyslagers
  15. It was going to happen some day and this was the most logical occasion. Against an experienced and tricky player on her worst surface and with little preparation. She even checked out at then end, was mentally exhausted. But the streak will be forever in the history books, tied with Hingis for 5th most in the open era.
  16. And he lost. Davidovich was a tough first round, but what an upset.
  17. One medal, Phelps has 15 individual golds and Ledecky 14.
  18. Yeah, so odd, but it happens. Van den Hoogenband never won a long course world title for example.
  19. Ledecky with the 3rd fastest split of all time in the 4x200, ties Lochte with 18 gold medals, only behind Phelps (26).
  20. Pilato was a silver medal in the 50m as a 14yo in 2019, she was already a contender for Tokyo but was DQ in the prelims. It was a slow final and the olympic gold and silver medalists weren't there, though.
  21. Popovici is a generational talent. Now is the 4th fastest ever after Biedermann, Phelps and Agnel. Hope he can challenge the WR in a few years. And I wouldn't be surprised if he beats Dressel in the 100 free here tbh. Talking about generational talents, Ledecky swam the 6th fastest 1500 free ever to win her 17th gold medal and 13th individual, 2 away from the record of Phelps. The craziest part for me was that she swam the first 800 in 8.13.06, fastest than any other woman ever... In the 800 free And Thomas Ceccon WR in the 100 BK!
  22. Only 4th swimmer after Ledecky, Titmus and Pellegrini to break the 4 minute at only 15yo. Crazy. This was the last gold for Ledecky in the 400 on a major meet. Titmus and McIntosh gonna dominate this race in the next years.
  23. You can check entries per event on FINA website. Summer McIntosh won't race the 200 free https://www.fina.org/competitions/2902/19th-fina-world-championships-budapest-2022/results?discipline=SW&disciplines=SW
  24. Levchenko not happy with Lasitskene's letter it seems. https://www.instagram.com/p/CelXM5bseLc/c/18274708534079705/
