  1. Surprise, will have a handover ceremony at the closing ceremony, was not expecting that with all the troubles they have been having.
  2. becomes the first ever previous host to improve its position on the medal table at the next edition (not including ties). Wow!
  3. Yes that is confirmed, didn't notice the list sent to me had a second column
  4. flagbearer will be an e-sports athlete
  5. Down to the final event, men's freestyle BMX
  6. Canada finishes with 164 medals 46 gold 55 silver and 63 bronze. A solid performance, but overall disappointing imo. Canada threw away multiple gold medal chances and our team sports struggled here
  7. bowling delayed by 2 hours it looks like
  8. Cross Country skiing, change from 300 to now 350 FIS points as the max. Though the paragraph says 300, the chart shows 350 No change in quota Freestyle skiing: No change in quotas Hockey Luge: Each singles event loses 10! quotas and the men's doubles loses a sled. This creates an additional 22 quotas, which will be used for the women's doubles event. Nordic combined max number of athletes per NOC dropped from 5 to 3 (2 really) Ski jumping: Quota is gender equal (65 men to 50 men from 2022 to 2026, and 45 women in 2022 to 50 women in 2026). For men's a country must have 4 skiers in the top 25 allocation list to qualify the maximum 4 jumpers. Snowboarding: Quotas remain the same from Beijing, but the number per NOC drops to max 13 per gender (from 14). Also it looks like a country can enter 3 SBX teams, I believe it was 2 in 2022. All the systems (except alpine skiing) are now available on the IOC's website.
  9. In 2022 Panamsports said 34 sports, 3 from the host, 28 'core sports' and 3 from panamsports (which would mean boxing/weightlifting and MP are not guaranteed). Recently rumours suggest only Olympic sports. We shall see.
  10. There was no way Canada was finishing second with second string teams in Athletics, rowing etc. Canada will only finish second if it sends its A team across all sports and that happens for only home games, see 2015.
  11. Mexico should easily take third, Basque Pelota has 3 finals tomorrow, that sport is the difference between and Canada has the following chances tomorrow: Men's bowling singles Men's golf Men's team table tennis Women's squash team I think only the first 2 have a realistic shot, and with just 2 golds Canada would have its best ever non-home performance.
  12. Interesting, do you think Chile would have been fourth if the games were elsewhere?
  13. Pretty frustrating performance by the Canadian women here. Was expecting a leap forward, especially with a new coach (the one who won gold with the British women's field hockey team in Rio). Hopefully they can get their sh*t together for Olympic qualifiers.
  14. wins men's water polo bronze, what an embarrassing result for Canada
  15. As the announcer was saying "barring anything drastic". Sums up Canada's performances in some event lol In another note the men's water polo team is about to lose to Argentina. Its like they dont want to play
  16. wins bronze in wrestling, the 35th NOC to win a medal here. Unlikely any of the others will. So my prediction from earlier came true lol. All 4 countries that did not medal won medals from that post, from the sports I suggested. I should do the lottery
  17. fwiw Yamina is the 2023 Pan American Champ, the Venezuelan finished third (they didn't face each other at the Pan Ams)
  18. Yamina LAHYANSSA into the gold medal match, where she will face the Venezuelan who she lost to earlier.
  19. Quota; Women's volleyball team. Men's and Women's field hockey Medal: Any Canadian male medal not in athletics. In Rio and Tokyo Canadian men did not win medals outside of athletics.
