  1. Not a shock perhaps given there was nothing really at stake, but I am a bit surprised that were 4 seconds adrift of
  2. / notch up another win against , taking the tie 2-0 Big match against this afternoon
  3. Nations Cup Results Day 1: / 2 - 1 Bello brothers won both of their matches whilst Bialokoz/Batrane lost in a couple of tight set. / 0 - 2 Both matches lost in 3 tight sets. / are up against later this morning.
  4. On the question of current form - particularly for the long-distance events - I don't think the requirement should necessarily be interpreted that they have to achieve the OQS after April. Both Dever and Keith were 23 seconds outside of the OQS so I'm a bit confused how that would indicate Keith is in form, but Dever isn't. Surely that should mean they've either both done enough to show current form or neither of them have shown current form? When it comes to selection for distance events, I wouldn't look at them in isolation - Dever has the OQS for 5000m so, assuming he finishes inside top-2 at trials will be going to Paris. If he's already going and gets an invite for 10,000m, there would be no reason for UK Athletics to turn it down. Likewise for Warner-Judd, if she is able to get on the squad for the 5000m, she'd be allowed to run the 10 if she gets an invite. The bigger question is whether there will actually be any invites for the 10000m - can't recall if there were any given for Budapest.
  5. I'd say there's a couple of issues within BMX Racing squad at the moment. The biggest problem GB have on the women's side is that they rely entirely on Shriever to maintain their results. The good news on that front is that by the time we are looking at qualifying for LA, Emily Hutt should have moved up to the elite level and we'll hopefully have Sienna Harvey and Betsy Bax still on the squad in under-23s. Was watching the 10ks so haven't watched the World Champs yet but from what I've seen of Shriever so far this season, she has a tendency that when she isn't challenging for the win, she will ease up a bit - she's not really interested in fighting for 4th. She hasn't shown the kind of form this year that we have perhaps come to expect of her, but as an Olympic and World Champion, she knows how to win when it matters and has earned the right to have an occasional off-day. On the men's side, it's almost the opposite problem - we've got great depth in the squad, but they haven't been able to string a consistent set of results together
  6. Well I didn't have that on my bingo card for the weekend - Molly Caudery has 3 failures at 4.54m in Atlanta City Games. Finishes with a lowly 4.39m - and even that took 2 attempts.
  7. are all but guaranteed a 2nd quota on the men's side. The fight for the final double quota spot will come down to v . Will be interesting to see the next rankings list when it comes out on Tuesday to see whether the gap between the two nations is small enough for GB to move into 8th place after the Europeans at the end of the month. Agree this has been a pretty poor World Champs for - not because Whyte didn't perform in the final, but Isidore crashed out in the 1/8 finals and Ross Cullen couldn't even make it out of the repechage.
  8. Harry Coppell coming mightily close to no heighting in back-to-back competitions. Finally gets over 5.22m at his 3rd attempt - that's his first successful vault since January 2023.
  9. Team GB have revealed the opening and closing ceremony uniforms. The opening outfit is OK for what it is, but the closing outfits wouldn't look out of place in an episode of Hawaii Five-0 Can't see many people rushing to splash 90 quid to look like Alfie from Eastenders.
  10. I wasn't clear from the interview if she was injured or not - although was left with a feeling that she was a big fan of Lancashire Anyhow, just watched the presentation of athletes for the Golden Roof challenge and she wasn't there so assume injury/niggle.
  11. 'Rope' Nielsen takes the win in Chorzow in an Olympic Qualifying time of 54.73 - matching her PB.
  12. Conor Bentley won the World Cup Event in Samarkand this morning. Jack Wilis was also competing and finished in 21st. In the women's event, Jessica Fullagar was second with Sian Rainsley in 8th place.
  13. However he does have a nasty tendency of under performing when it really matters though - I don't think he's really been close to securing a quota in the qualifying events to date.
  14. The allocation of the 2023 World Championship quotas has been changed. In the 2023 version, there was only a reallocation of the '23 WC quotas if there was a continent that hadn't qualified through the OQS or after reallocation of '22 World Champs quotas. Now the '23 WC quotas are reallocated to non-qualified NOCs.
  15. Looks like I've been a bit naive in believing that Holly Mills could perhaps challenge the 6,000 mark on her return from injury lay-off. She looked really sluggish in the 100m hurdles and was amongst the slowest in the field - in fact the only 2 athletes who ran slower than her had fallen over in their heats.
  16. Current Combined Boulder/Lead Quota Simulation After Shanghai: 1.) Seo Chaehyun 2.) Brooke Raboutou 3.) Miho Nonaka 4.) Ievgeniia Kazbekova 5.) Futaba Ito 6.) Luo Zhilu 7.) Zélia Avezou 8.) Erin McNeice 9.) Camila Moroni 10.) Lucia Dorffel 11.) Kim Jian 12.) Mia Krampl
  17. To be fair to them, they do publish rankings after every event - it's just this event hasn't finished yet
  18. Lucy Hall frustratingly inconsistent again. She led competition after 100 targets only to get a 21 in the final round and now faces shoot off to get into the final. Thank goodness she already has her ticket to Paris.
  19. I expect they will - they published a ranking for BMX Freestyle after the final. If they follow the same approach, the winner will get 50 points, 2nd 45, 3rd 41 4th gets 38 points and 5th gets 36. After that it goes down 1 point at a time. On that basis, Moroni would get 32 points for finishing in 9th place.
  20. Realistically, there will be 11 places available - 10 standard and the host quota reallocation
  21. On the upside, Moroni is at least in a quota qualifying position
  22. It's carnage in the 100m hurdles at Gotzis and we've already lost 3 athletes in the space of 4 heats - Weisenberg had a run out and both Palm and Sprengel have falls.
  23. Both McArthur and McNiece advance to the final of the climbing combined. Have to confess, I fell asleep after the boulder round but it doesn't look like McNiece had a great Lead round albeit it was quite a low scoring round but a score of 20 would suggest that she fell quite low down the wall. McArthur's 45.1 was the 5th highest score so his main frustration likely to be a missed opportunity to get a 3rd top in the earlier boulder comp.
