  1. MLB got their ideal WS: Yankees vs Dodgers
  2. Unheralded Suzan Lamens won Osaka 250 title as a qualifier. These Asian 250s are really the easiest way to make a run at a maiden WTA title for all these lower ranked players!
  3. Well, Honda and Yamaha are getting pantsed this season even more but at least we have more geese in Phillip Island
  4. Wim Fissette is Iga Świątek's new coach.
  5. If using decathlon/heptathlon points tables this Chepngetich run would be worth 1339 points which makes this the third highest scored WR among all women events. For comparison the hightest scoring WR is Reinsch in the discus worth 1382 points. Lisovskaya in the shot put is 1372 points. Chistyakova in the long jump is 1333 points. So we're all talking good old & school of athletics Among the men Duplantis' current pole vault WR is also worth 1339 points. The highest scoring WR is Zelezny in the javelin 1362 points. Bolt's 100/200 records, Powell in long jump and Warholm in 400h are also higher scored if barely.
  6. Mikaela Shiffrin won't compete in DH this season. https://www.nbcsports.com/olympics/news/mikaela-shiffrin-alpine-skiing-world-cup-2024
  7. lost to 1-3 and well, Portugal could have scored at least two more
  8. Xiao Guodong won Wuhan Open 10-7 over Si Jiahui in the final. Zhao Xintong is back playing after his 18 month ban (he won Q School event in Stockholm). Stephen Lee's 12 year ban for match fixing ended today (on his 50th birthday no less) but I don't expect him to show up in Main Tour again https://www.sportbible.com/snooker/stephen-lee-snooker-ban-match-fixing-return-836856-20240131
  9. Padres scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning of NLDS Game 3 and then scored 0 runs in the next 24 innings Dodgers won the series 3-2 to set up NLCS vs Mets.
  10. claim a famous 2-1 victory over at Wembley (and they had three other goals taken by VAR!) @Makedonas
  11. Aryna Sabalenka beat Yulia Putintseva in three sets to make Wuhan QF so she will assume WTA #1 on October 28th for at least two weeks while the year-end #1 will be decided at the YEC itself.
  12. The Rays ballpark got seriously damaged by hurricane Milton...
  13. Niels Hintermann has been diagnosed with lymphoma and will miss the season.
  14. The lower-ranked sister won
  15. Wuhan R2 and we get a family meeting in WTA again...
  16. All four Divisional Series are tied at 1-1 for the first time in MLB history (since 1995 when this format was first introduced).
  17. Well, even winning futsal would truly mean the Church of Maradona is real voodoo
  18. Vikings are 5-0 after beating Jets 23-17 in London. The other New York team is also looking shaky
  19. Dodgers fell 3-0 behind in the first inning to Padres but managed to win 7-5 in the first NLDS game. Phillies' bullpen collapsed vs Mets allowing 5 runs and one out in the 8th inning
  20. Iga Świątek has split with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski.
  21. Chicago White Sox ended the season with 121 losses - most ever in modern MLB history (aka excluding the 1899 Cleveland Spiders). Jerry Reinsdorf has truly reached rock bottom with this one. Detroit Tigers sweep Houston Astros in AL Wild Card to open the post-season.
  22. One week after losing the Monastir final Rebecca Sramkova wins her maiden WTA title in Hua Hin by beating Laura Siegemund 6-4 6-4 in the final @hckošice
  23. Hosting Olympic Games isn't an honor anymore. The old fashioned bidding contests are dead. Democracies are no longer willing to spend money on the "show" unlike the Middle East gulf moguls plus China. It is what it is. Professional sports is business now and it has to invest money from somewhere to make a profit later. We can mock how NBC dictates the swimming programme with finals in the morning local time but that also falls into "authoritarian" style of organzing these Games. And it will only get worse as the big pockets will only have more influence going forward. There will come a time when Bach won't be viewed as the worst anymore because just when you think it can't get any worse, it can and probably will
  24. One season plus two games and it's over. Bryce Young will go down as one of the worst #1 overall picks in NFL history and the trade for that #1 pick gives it a good run for the Herschel Walker worst trade crown as well. Red Rifle is back on!
  25. Vikings' season might not be toast with QB2!
