Just watch the first six seasons is my advice
I heard they killed off Emilia Clarke's character in the end? But Idk who even sat on that Iron Throne in the end? Given some of the final season backlash I can only guess it remained empty? That would be fitting

Maybe try a book
I hate fantasy theme. Lord of the Rings and all that crap. No way I'm gonna waste any time for GoT either

3 Scots in the final!
Like the good old days of the 1970s.
What happened to when they win, when they lose?

More white guys than Africans in the 1500m WCh final?
-
These 3:35-3:36 races at WCh is the reason why Lewandowski can steal a medal here.
Iguider for once was run out of another global final.

Wait, Ethiopia sent an athlete whose PB was slower than 3:38 (and still is)?
Polish ES said his PB is actually 3:35 and the caption was wrong. Still, 3:35 for is a weak PB.

Kalle Berglund in the final!
Blankeship & F. Ingebrigtsen will have to wait.
Souleiman was nowhere!

Yeah, all of that might be true, but i was talking about the perspective from before the start of this competition. I think "back then" many/most people favored Thompson/SAFP over DAS and Thiam over KJT. Of course after the javelin throw Kaul was the favorite for gold, but before the start of the competition noone thought that he could win gold.
I didn't pick Mayer to win ANY medal. I just didn't buy his chance to last 10 events after a poor season where he didn't finish a single event IIRC. I wonder how many TO users left Mayer out of the medals here?

Yeah, that was kind of my point, he isnt too old to get back to the top. I dont think that you can say that he is looking good to "remain the king". Whoever wins the title is the king, so currently Kaul is the king. We dont know by how much Kaul will improve next year (this year he improved by more than 400 points), but of course Mayer still is the clear favorite for Tokyo. Still we cant forget that a) this is the second big competition in a row where he didnt get a result and b) he still needs to get the qualifying mark for Tokyo next year and he said that he cant do 2 decathlons in one year, so it might be kind of tricky for him to plan the next year.
You don't win the title of the King, mind you. Dan O'Brien didn't even take part in 1992 OG but everyone knew he was the King back then Just because Mayer DNF here, it doesn't mean he's not the best decathlete right now.

Lol ... how old is Mayer? Also Zhoya is improving rapidly!
Mayer is 27yo and current WR holder so he's looking good to remain as the King

Am i the only one who thinks that the artistic gymnastics world championship is one of the most difficult competitions to predict?
I looked at the results of the 2018 edition and i feel like half of the medalists from last year aren't even competing here and the world cup results arent a very good predictor either.
Simone Biles disagrees

If you really predicted DAS to win 200 m gold, then good for you. I thought SAFP or Thompson would win the gold, but then they withdrew. I also considered Thiam the favorite for gold, but again, if you predicted gold for KJT then congrats. I hope that after the end of the world championships all predicitions will be revealed so that we will see what other people thought who the favorite was.
Thompson looked very slow in 100m already. There was no doubt she won't threaten DAS in the 200m and it's no wonder she pulled out. If Ta Lou didn't win a medal in 100m I guess she'd have entered 200m and maybe challenged DAS. Schippers was a non-factor all season tbh.
I picked Thiam for gold but I was unaware the elbow issue will kill her JV so much. Likewise I didn't think Thompson would be so awful here.

Kaul betters PB by 119 pts!
But that was kinda impressive. Still a weaker period in the decathlon.
LePage 4:45.09 PB

I'd say Kaul, Uibo & Warner will be the finishing order.

Both were favorites for silver, but i dont think anyone expected gold from DAS or KJT and i dont see either of them winning gold in Tokyo.
Well, given the schedule and Miller-Uibo going for 400, DAS was immediately upgraded as 200m favorite. Thiam's elbow injury proved to be real, she didn't throw over 50m all season and if she couldn't have those 12-15m on KJT there, she was never going to win gold. Not to mention KJT's result is 6th all-time so not exactly 22,52-level in 200m

I would say GB and Austria are the two most overperforming nations here so far alongside Jamaica and China.
Austria probably had 2 medal hopefuls and they both delivered. That's 100% execution.
DAS & KJT were two of the strongest individual medal hopefuls they had tbh. They will overperform if they win a gold in the relays!

6,981 pts so Ennis NR is gone. Well done, girl!
It's not that I don't like her but I dislike the crazy BBC hype!
