Well, slalom speciallists having the best course and going from 30th to 1st was deemed very stupid as well Allthough I don't think that would have been a problem for women since most slalom speciallists are much better in Super G.
If Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel holds on to 12th that will be the best finish for a Polish woman at World Championships since 1985 (Dorota Tlałka 6th in slalom).
Best in XXI century was Katarzyna Karasinska's 16th place in 2005 slalom.
I have a feeling Shiffrin will be really thankful she didn't win the SG part. Brignone served as the guinea pig to pinpoint the immediate bogey gate after three turns (if nobody spotted it during inspection).
Brignone should be able to keep 0,97 ahead of Holdener but it's improbable she holds off Shiffrin, Gisin & Vlhova who are inside 0,40. This smells like a 4th place result for Brignone most likely save for some DNF.
You wanted to know why Norway developed speed skaters lately (unlike Germany) to begin with. I suppose you wandered so much in trying to prove me wrong you forgot what I was originally responding to I'm impressed you managed to feature Nigeria in a thread about speed skating
