New dressage rankings are out...

Qualification simulation

Group A - :DEN:IRL

Group B - :FRA:POR

Group C - :GEO:RUS

Groups D/E - :CAN:DOM:MEX:URU

Group F - :RSA:MAR

Group G - :NZL:MAS

Additional - :LUX

Not much has changed overall. Portugal, Russia, Uruguay entered the qualification zone for the first time, while Finland, Guatemala, Poland have lost their provisional spots...

Armenia made a positive start in the background Their rider might have a chance, but only if she continues to campaign actively (which is doubtful, since she is very much an amateur...).

Full rankings here.

Ground jury for Tokyo dressage competition was appointed today.

:GER Katrina Wuest (president)

:GBR Andrew Ralph Gardner

:NED Francis Verbeek-van Rooy

:DEN Hans-Christian Matthiesen

:USA Janet Lee Foy

:AUS Susan Hoevenaars

:SWE Magnus Ringmark

President is usually from the host nation, however Japan has no 5* judges so Wuest got the honor. Very happy for her. Such a lovely lady.

Among others, Verbeek and Hoevenaars are alright I guess. Others too, but they do have their "quirks". :p

interesting how all of them come from powerhouse nations. Usually some Austrian or Finnish judge scrapes in. Not this time.

p.s. There are not that many dressage judges in general. Therefore followers of the sport are very familiar with all these names...

Can't believe that both :BER Annabelle Collins and :SVK Michael Bugan still haven't entered a single qualification event. Such meh. :nopompom:

The only change is that Finland overtook Luxembourg for the additional place.

Interesting to see Georgia in dressage. Cant recall that they participate in equestrian so far.

No, they haven't competed before.  Just like Malaysia who holds one of Group G spots.

Thought so.

This is only simulation but how realistic is to see them in Tokyo? Both Georgia and Malaysia?

They have their chance, but it will be a battle.

Meanwhile, it's Luxembourg that stands the best chance of making a debut. Their rider provisionally lost a spot this month, but that's because he entered only two events so far (top 4 results count for the rankings).
