I think it is only to show the number of players participated, if we do other wise, than hockey will be reduced to 2 from 32.

How can you differentiate between two events of Sudha Singh with three events of Gagan Narang, Two events each of Jitu Rai, Heena Siddhu, Chain Singh and Gurpreet Singh.

Wikipedia makes these errors from time to time, they will correct it again tomorrow. Total athlete 99 currently.
