Happy to see CNN-News 18 initiating the news regarding the next Dipa in Gymnastics and getting help for her improvement. Rare gesture by media in helping the athletes get sponsors for their need...

:clap::clap:

She is dubbed nxt Dipa because of the same state she belongs to. Without doubting Ashmita's abilities and future , one must also keep a watch on the veterans like Pranati Das from West Bengal and Pranati Nayak from Madhya Pradesh

Just One question on Boxing ..

Is India is only country which complaints about AIBA or many other countries complain on it.. Actually in This forum in other threads many of them don't want boxing to be there at Olympics, as scores are manipulated.

Is there any official complain on AIBA at CAS by any country.  Can someone help me in understanding?

Nope, everyone complains about AIBA and boxing. Unfortunately, it has got to the point where unless you were knocked out, you are gonna complain if u lose (one example being the USA boxer who lost to Vikas in the first round. He was beaten black and blue but still acted as though he was shocked by the result). This is something which AIBA wanted as they can now even ignore the genuine complaints among the deluge of merit-less complaints.

CAS unfortunately has no role to play here. CAS is very clear on the fact that they will never give a decision on the refreeing/judging/umpiring in any sport. Thats why Vikas' appeal in 2012 was a lost cause. They adjudicate only on off-field matters - like doping and qualification procedure and so on.

The biggest controversy this year was the loss of Irish Michael Conlan - who openly put up two middle fingers and shouted abuses right after his match. No ban/santions have come yet but AIBA has said they will take action...though it remains to be seen. Bit ironic that in London, we complained a lot about decisions going in favour of home team GB and psuedo-home team Ireland but the shoe was on the other foot this time.

By the way, Ireland had 4 boxing medals in London, 0 in Rio.

Surprise !!! Surprise !!!

Sarita Devi's controversial bout in Asain games and Michael Conlan's controversial bout in Rio both had the same refree, and had one of the same judges.

Paes and Bopanna retain their place in Davis Cup squad.:facepalm:

I really hoped that Divij Sharan and Purav Raja would be our new Doubles pair.

Edit: The Singles players in the squad are Saketh Myneni and Ramakumar Ramanathan with Sumit Nagal and Prajnesh Gunneshwaran as reserves

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
    • The next chapter in the Krasnobaeva saga is upon us.   Looks like  Armenia have cut ties with her after only a few weeks. A person from their Federation has said, that they won't continue the relationship, because of her unprofessional and rude attitude towards the coaches and other officials. That includes: - having no respect to the coaches and their advise; - training without any motivation; - stops doing the routine and throws objects without any reason; - just lays on the floor and ignores the music.   When this was escalated with her mother, she mentioned that "Elvira has a strong temper and she was the same in Bulgaria and they tolerated her". Which of course is complete BS. If anyone attempted this shit here, they would be thrown out immediately.   And now  are wanting from her mother to return all finances they gave them, which she is refusing, so they will probably sue them. They will also inform other RG Federations about this situation, so they don't hire them.   My 2 cents on this is most likely Krasnobaeva was happy in BG and was forced out by her mother, so now she is sabotaging the move and be done with it.
    • Honestly Ruka is my favourite World Cup event of the whole season. Everybody is there. Later on there is always someone who skips one weekend or another . Not everybody takes part in Tour de ski. But here everyone shows up.
