In triathlon, Jacopo Butturini is currently on 163rd place of individual olympic qualification ranking. He was in 25th position at European triathlon championship in Glasgow yesterday. Good to see that we have someone on olympic rankings even though he is far from qualification.

Croatia is currently in 56th place on men's mountain bike olympic qualification ranking list and in 33th place on women's mountain bike olympic qualification ranking list. Best 21 nations from the rankings will qualify for Tokyo. In track cycling we are not on the olympic rankings in any discipline.

Olympic qualification process already has started in many sports - mountain bike cycling, track cycling, golf, judo, karate, taekwondo, sailing and triathlon. We can also say that processs of qualification for Tokyo started for some team sports - football, handball and basketball. We lost any theoretic chance to qualify in field hockey. First important competition for Croatia in which we expected direct qualification for Tokyo was World Sailing Championship in Aarhus, Denmark. Our sailors tried to qualify in seven of ten olympic disciplines. Our first athlete that qualified Croatia for Tokyo 2020 is Tonci Stipanovic in laser. Sime Fantela with his brother Mihovil qualified in 49er. So, we have 3 athletes in Tokyo for now.

Results of our athletes in Aarhus:

Men's laser            20. Tonci Stipanovic (best 22 won quota, one per nation) - QUALIFIED

Men's 49er              First at the moment - Sime Fantela and Mihovil Fantela (best 11 won quota, one per nation) - QUALIFIED

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Men's finn              11. Josip Olujić (9th placed athlete won last quota place)

Women's laser r    76. Andjela de Micheli Vitturi (26th placed athlete won last quota place)

Women's 49er FX 27. Enia Nincevic and Mihaela de Micheli Vitturi (11th placed crew won last quota place)

Men's RS:X           68. Luka Mratovic (17th placed athlete won last quota place)

Women's RS:X      55. Palma Cargo (19th placed athlete won last quota place)

We didn't send competitors in men's and women's 470 and nacra 17.

    • I used to think Johnston(e) - from some place John build (aka stone for building something hehe).   I'm not familiar if Scottish or Irish clans are named after such clan founder or a place?
    • i'm triggered,legitimately thought kennedy 2.0 happened,just way more out of nowhere
    • Perfectly obvious.    Johnson = son of John Johnston or Johnstone = From St John's Town ie Perth in Scotland.
    • Nope. Azu missed out by 0.01. Bromell lost silver by 0.001!
