Makedonas 1,581 Posted May 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2022 5th place for Anastasiadou/Kontou in LW2X at World Cup I. Considering they are 20 and 16 years old, that's a decent result. Will be interesting to see how they progress over the next few years.
Monzanator 3,595 Posted June 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2022 Nothing going for the new line-up of the women's quadruple sculls so far. Two double Olympic medallists Kobus-Zawojska & Sajdak (both over 30yo) have been replaced by younger girls and they finished last twice and 5th in a repechage
Makedonas 1,581 Posted June 22, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2022 So just like London and Rio, our promising young rowing team from Tokyo is starting to fall apart... To recap, we had: A 24 yo win gold in M1X (Stefanos Ntouskos) A 22 yo finish 10th in W1X (Anneta Kyridou) Two 20 yos finish 5th in W2- (Christina Bourmpou and Maria Kyridou) The Kyridou sisters have both been banned from the national team because their mother posts in a Facebook group criticising the federation... Meanwhile the sisters have been training hard all year long in the women's pair together and we won't even get to see them in any competition. They would have a good chance to win a medal in Paris you would think. Such an embarrassing disgrace what is happening. The federation is a joke...
