One of our family friends found something in her collection of family achievements from a certain cousin of hers:

If only that kid knew where that would take him.

The :SVK Internal qualification for the all 4 events at the 2020 Olympic games were today officially announced and presented to the medias and athletes.

Our athletes will fight in a 4 stage internal qualification. (3 races will be contested already this August/early September and 1 race next year in May)

The 1st race being the 4th World Cup stage in Markkleeberg :GER

the 2nd race -  the World Cup final stage in Prague :CZE

the 3rd race - The World Championships in Seu d´Urgell :ESP  (Which is also the general Olympic Qualification)

and the final 4th race - the next years European Championships in Lee Valley :GBR (in May 2020 - (which is also the last Olympic continental qualification))

Now, how it works ?

For every one of the 4 mentioned races our athletes will collect points according to their final ranking at the respective race. (only the top 40 places in M K1 and top 30 places in other 3 events will be taken into account.)

*important : The worst result will be scratched for everyone.

The athlete with the highest points will win the quota and the right to represent the country in Tokyo (if SVK will qualify ofc)

It´s also known that for the M C1 the fight will be between Michal Martikán 5 times Olympic medalist (Gold in 1996, 2008, Silver in 2000 and 2004 and Bronze in 2012), Matej Beňuš (Reigning silver medalist from Rio 2016) and the only one of the trio who never competed at the Olympics Alexander Slafkovský

(Pitty for the young Marko Mirgorodský, maybe he´ll get his chance in Paris 2024)
