Quite a bad comparison, since in swimming they did so with suits that became illegal after a while. Here everything falls into place (top shape, top conditions, everything), which might happen again even though it'd take some years.

here there's nothing "falling into place"...

it's either "doped ice" or "doped guys"..if not both (most probably)...:whistle::pope:

Yeah in that factor it's most likely not different from any other sport, but pretty much everyone agrees that these specific weeks are because of top shape and top ice, otherwise they'd have been way faster in the run-up to the Olympics instead of in the non-important post-Olympic season.

According to a Russian coach it was because of 'little physical problems' and they only wanted to start to secure the World Cup points, but of course nobody believes that :d

Mark Tuitert and Erben Wennemars on Dutch TV are absolutely mad as fuck, steam is basically shooting straight out of their ears   Sure, it was incredibly disrespectful but also hilarious :d

Translation (from someone else) of his interview with Dutch TV:

Quote

• When first asked about the reasons why he had done this, he replied that he had had enough injuries and doesn't want to risk his health. He assumed that the ice was really bad as it had not been prepared after the previous race.

• Pavel doesn't agree with the rules. He mentioned that he doesn't like the fact that he has to start in the same lane as yesterday as well as the fact that he was not leading the classification after several wins.

• He also mentioned that he did it "because he has already won 7 races out of 10" and so no reason to take the risk.

• He noted that if Shinhama rode the WR he would've gone fast.

• Finally, when asked about this attitude towards the noises of ingratitude coming from the tribunes, Pavel replied: "It was just a couple of people".

• In the end, he apologized.

    • Abbagnale boasted that he had 80 per cent a few days before the vote (I still have the screen) and ran again as a result of a power deal. Not a great loss.   I have doubts about the new technical director though, you can't announce him during the congress, brandishing the scalp of the Abbagnale era technical staff (who then, were Crispi's men). Let's hope there are no rifts between the new staff and the athletes, it had to be handled better.
    • I was surprised by Abbagnale's defeat. I thought he was a sure of victory, since he decided to run - I read some source that he didn't know if he would start before Paris 2024. What do you think about it?

    • Cattaneo was good but his peak was in Tokyo 2021. Then there was such stabilization - stagnation. In Paris the result was in line with expectations but without the wow effect. They threw everything that was best into the quadruple sculls and it was enough for a only silver. Now without the lightweight sculls in LA I think that radical changes are needed to remain competitive. Previously there was a 3-year Olympic cycle due to Covid, so big changes weren`t good but now I think the time is right. Although of course more funds are needed for this sport in Italy, because even the best coach will not overcome this vel our men`s alpine skiing sector
