:ISV leading after the first quarter in women’s basketball. I’m honestly torn between watching and not watching :zip:

I can’t even figure out what to type right now. I didn’t expect this at all. Just, wow! :hyper:

I never expected a team sports gold medal to be a reality when I started following/cheering for USVI in 2019. I wanted to cheer for a smaller NOC so I could experience big moments like this. It isn’t always easy to find info about the team, athletes, and sports culture on the islands. My fandom isn’t as strong as I’d like it to be sometimes, and I haven’t even been able to visit the islands yet. There have been many close calls with success over the last few years. It was tough watching events knowing the athletes you’re supporting are unlikely to win (at least coming from the USA). I can’t speak for the island, but I can’t even fathom what a moment this is for the players and fans. I’m just so happy for them. Here’s to more more years of supporting underdogs :toast:
