Yikes, Oteiza out.
It really does feel like only the fencing and the laser run matters at these Games. Swimming decides absolutely nothing and the horses are so good that almost everyone clears riding with zero or one faults.
ExpandExcept few players participated in Paris Olympics, I am expecting around 30 new names will be in Los Angeles with Obstacles replacing Equestrian.
Yeah, it will be even more of an endurance sport. I doubt that Hungary will have as many medal chances as before.
Of all the disappointments of these Games, not even being in medal contention for the men's event here before the laser run is the biggest disappointment for Hungary.
Shaban flies off the horse right at the end...
The horses seem pretty good, no horse punching this time.
Terrible fencing from the Hungarians... I don't know what to say, almost everything is going wrong for Hungary. Not as bad as Beijing, but at this rate it's still going to be one of our worst Games.
This really isn't our Worlds... Thank God that this is happening here and not in Paris.
I am ready to say goodbye to riding, I won't miss it at all.
Edited by VektorEvery NOC with the exception of Czechia wins a quota in the men's final.
Grycz is 24 seconds behind the second to last NOC, so Czechia might be the nation to miss out today.
This will be pretty much a laser run competition with some small handicap, the first 8 athletes are within 10 seconds.
This is shaping up to be a closer race for the gold.
will have to work extra hard for the quota, they are behind the rest of the NOCs.
Lol, Dallenbach falls down from the horse after he completed the course.
Okay, disaster avoided in the riding, we should be fine for the quota.
flopping in the riding and first British score is also not good.
is coming for that men's team gold.
ExpandThis is it... Lithuania with final 4th place is now officially closed their European Games 2023!
Also, daaamn, Asadauskaite still the fastest women in laser run after so many years!!
I think you won the silver in the women's team event thanks to both Hungary and Great Britain (Whitaker) messing up the laser. Maybe one day someone will post an official result...
Edited by VektorWell, that's disappointing. It seems Gulyás isn't her top form, she usually doesn't get beaten like this in the running.
Sotero should take that gold, unless she messes up the shooting. Gulyás is too far behind because of that terrible fencing result.

The fencing bonus round continues to be the most pointless waste of time I have ever seen on the program.
Also, one of the fencers just presented how terrible this is: she just fallen down from a waaay too high podium. This shit is both pointless and somewhat dangerous.
Expandand latvia ???
Svecovs was eliminated in the SF.

9 NOCs, only 1 will fail to win the quota
Edited by VektorDisaster, we lost both Demeter and Koleszár... Goodbye to our medal chances in men's team. Hopefully we can still win the quota.
Terrible fencing from most of our athletes yesterday, we will need a smaller miracle to qualify 3 of them, our team might be fucked.

10th Hungarian gold medal in the history of pentathlon, the last gold of the "traditional" modern pentathlon goes to the most successful nation of the discipline.
