Expandactually, it's not over yet.
there's another subdivision (with
and maybe
to be watched carefully).
however did throw away a great result in the last rotation with 2 falls at the Balance Beam that cost us a 10.3 and a 10.8 scores.
without those falls, we would be in the lead with big margin right now...

ExpandMiyachi has won 2 stages, Zonderland 3 now- see https://www.fig-gymnastics.com/site/rankings/ranking_mag.php , there is no need for the tiebreaker if Miyachi won't take part in the next stages.
Aah yeah, I thought Miyachi already won 3. Now it makes more sense. Thanks!
ExpandHow on earth does this system work? There's now talk here that Epke Zonderland has qualified because Miyachi decides to skip the Baku and Doha competitions?
![]()
The sum of the best three results in the World Cup are taken into account when determining these rankings. Both Miyachi and Zonderland have won three World Cups. In that case, they look at the average of the best three scores during the finals of these world cups, if I understand correctly.
Zonderland now has a better average if you take his winning score in Melbourne into account, but the average of his three best scores isn't that much higher than Miyachi's. That's why I'm surprised that apparently Miyachi congratulated Zonderland with the ticket stating that he will not take part in the last two World Cups. Now he's dependent on being selected for the Japanese team. So I wouldn't be surprised if Miyachi said this in the heat of the moment, but will show up in the last two World Cups to see if he can surpass Zonderland.
Does stand any chance to qualify a team here?
First disappointment of the day for us.
Hambüchen now the big favorite for gold.

ExpandWhat a surprising gold medallist! Most surprising gold medallist in olympic history?
Like i said: USA wont win uneven bars and balance beam.
She won silver at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, so she's not a nobody on balance beam, but yeah, this is still surprising.
Really good routine by Hernandez
This could be the 6th different sport in which we will win a gold medal (after Sailing, Rowing, Cycling Track, Cycling Road and Marathon Swimming).
A personal best in the final of the Olympics!
Really proud of Sanne Wevers, no matter what her final result will be.
